Mr. Kevin D. Hendricks

Kevin D. Hendricks, 69, passed from this life on September 6, 2025. He was surrounded by his family at his home in Columbus, Indiana. Kevin was born on October 30th, 1955, to Kenneth P. and Sheila McDonnel Hendricks.
Kevin's life work was in public service. As a Sergeant for the Columbus Indiana Police Department, he was more than an officer of the law; he was a friend and guardian to the community, often spending time visiting people in their homes and helping cross off to-do lists. Upon Kevin's retirement from the force, he served as County Assessor and later, used his CDL to drive for many local companies.
In addition to Kevin's work in public service, he enjoyed his time in real estate and as Owner and Operator of Hendricks Auctioneering.
Kevin was an active member and volunteer of St. Peter's Lutheran Church for 35 years. His devotion to volunteering, especially with troubled youth and those recovering from addiction changed countless lives for the better. His faith was an inspiration to many, even through the trials and pain of cancer.
In his free time, Kevin enjoyed nature and adventure. Whether boating at Lake Monroe, fishing, riding his motorcycle, or exploring the world on his bicycle, Kevin found joy in every moment spent outdoors.
Kevin is survived by his two children, Kyle (Jessie Deweese) Hendricks and Ali (Drew) Kiel; their Mother, Deborah Hendricks, with whom he spent many special years of marriage, his grandchildren, Millie and Nash Kiel; sister, Janet (Barry) Glazer; niece, Ann Glazer; nephew, Joe Roach; and sister-in-law, Autumne Hash-Hendricks.
Kevin is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Brian Hendricks.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 15 at Barkes, Weaver and Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Tim Carter officiating. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11:00 a.m. till time of service at the funeral home.
A private inurnment will take place at Garland Brook Cemetery.
