Kevin Hite Obituary

On the evening of August 28, 2024, Kevin Anthony Hite joined the angels at the age of 67. Born November 5, 1956 to the late Henry Dale Hite and Jeraldine Reyer Hite, he attended St. Lawrence the Martyr for elementary school and then Archbishop Rummel High School. He always cherished his years spent at Rummel as he was a proud football player and member of the original Super Ants that went to the State Championship. He graduated from Xavier University School of Pharmacy and worked as a Pharmacist for 35 years before retiring in 2016. In his retirement, he lovingly cared for his grandchildren, becoming their mentor in all forms of silly activities and adventures of which he was so fond. He and his wife, Eileen, spent many years swing dancing and traveling the world together to Spain, Switzerland, France, the United Kingdom, and more. Kevin has been described as one whose personality was larger than life, who lit up a room, and was always cheerful. The pride he felt for his family and the infinite love he had for them was always evident. He loved spending all day on the parade route during Mardi Gras, bopping around French Quarter Fest, volunteering at Jazz Fest to see all of his favorite local acts, and was always listening to music on WWOZ. He constantly stayed busy and enjoyed completing outdoor projects in his yard, even building out a pool for his family to enjoy. He loved opening his home to family and friends for the "Beat Bama Birthday Bash" when LSU annually faced Bama on his birthday weekend, but the biggest highlight of every year was going to Orange Beach with his extended family where he especially looked forward to making memories on the beach with his grandkids. One of his other simple, but greatest, joys was picking his grandkids up from school so they could swim or get a treat on their beloved "Ice Cream Fridays". He was indeed a special man whose faith, generosity, memorable presence, and kindness will not soon be forgotten. Remember him the next time you eat a roast beef or hot sausage poboy. Those, too, were a couple of his favorite things. He is loved and remembered by his wife of 43 years, Eileen Chesnut Hite; his two children, Nathan Hite (Lisa) and Aja Hite Mipro (Jeremy); his mother, Jeraldine Reyer Hite; his siblings, Karl Hite, Kristen Hite Brayard (Richard), and Kaye Hite Couvillon (Larry). He also leaves behind four of his greatest treasures - his grandchildren Grace, Tucker, Lucas, and Rowan - and his furry granddogs; Chicory, Roux, and Andouille. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and an abundance of friends will remember him fondly. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at St. Christopher the Marytr Church, 3900 Derbigny St., Metairie, LA 70001 from 11 am to 1 pm with mass to follow. To keep his joy alive, feel free to wear your best LSU or festing attire; it would certainly make him flash that signature smile. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Kevin's memory to WWOZ at www.wwoz.org/donate. Online condolences may be offered at www.gardenofmemoriesmetairie.com.
