Family and friends,
Today, we gather to celebrate the remarkable life of Kevin J. Kearns, a man whose journey was as diverse and vibrant as the facets of a precious gem he so skillfully crafted. Kevin's story began on August 27, 1963, in the town of Plainfield, New Jersey. However, it was in the sun-drenched soil of Port Neches, Texas, that he truly blossomed.
From an early age, Kevin's passion for sports burned brightly. He wasn't just a football player; he was a star on the field-a force to be reckoned with. His teammates admired his determination, and opponents respected his unwavering spirit. Kevin taught us that victory wasn't just about winning games; it was about the camaraderie, the sweat-soaked jerseys, the thrill of the game, and the life-long friendships made while playing sports.
But Kevin's talents extended far beyond the football field. As a gemologist, he transformed raw stones into exquisite jewelry. Each gem he polished held a story-their brilliance reflecting his own. Kevin's creations adorned the necks, wrists, and fingers of those lucky enough to wear them. His artistry was a testament to patience, precision, and the beauty that emerges from the depths of the earth.
And then there was Kevin's physical prowess. An avid bodybuilder, he sculpted his physique with dedication and discipline. But it wasn't just about aesthetics; it was about pushing boundaries, testing limits, and embracing the power of the human body.
Beyond gemstones and dumbbells, Kevin had a curious mind. His hobbies spanned the realms of geology and botany. He reveled in the secrets hidden within rocks and reveled equally in the delicate petals of a wildflower.
And then there were his beloved companions: Max and Buddy, two loyal dogs who shared his daily adventure. Their wagging tails and soulful eyes brought joy to Kevin's days that he spent with his love, Nora.
Kevin was a man of contrasts. He could host elegant soirées, sipping fine wines and regaling guests with stories of gemstones and touchdowns. Yet, he wasn't afraid to roll up his sleeves and engage in a spirited brawl when the occasion demanded it. His zest for life was infectious, and his laughter echoed through the halls of countless gatherings.
But perhaps Kevin's most enduring legacy lies in the homes and businesses he transformed. His construction company, DeKor, breathed new life into tired spaces. Walls were torn down, beams raised, and dreams realized. Kevin's craftsmanship was more than mortar and nails; it was a testament to his vision and determination.
Today, we mourn the loss of a father, a son, a brother, and a friend. Kevin is survived by his brother, Mark Kearns; his sister, Kimberlee Kearns Stewart; and his cherished nephews-Jordan, Matthew, and Luke. His uncle, John Denys and numerous cousins share in our grief.
We remember Kevin's daughter, Emma Gale Kearns, who left this world too soon. Her memory intertwines with his, a bond unbroken by time or distance. Kevin's parents, Gale Kearns and Joseph Kearns, have also crossed the threshold into eternity, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience.
As the sun sets on Kevin's earthly journey, we invite you to join us in celebrating his life. The gathering and celebration will take place on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at The West, 6445 Calder Avenue, Beaumont, Texas. Let us share stories, raise our glasses, and honor the man who lived life to the fullest-a gemologist, a football star, a builder, and a friend.
Thank you.
His cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard's Crematorium under the direction of Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

I met Kevin through my husband Joey Livesay. He brought me Max to be groomed in 2014. I instantly fell in love with this fury ball of personality. He was a hot tangled mess and Kevin said, "Do not shave him." That was our base line conversation about Max for years. As Max got older Kevin changed he said, "Do whatever needs to be done." that was our last conversation. Rest in peace Kevin.

Kevin painted a wave on our building(LaSuprema) back in 1990. He later told us it was his first commercial job. He had great taste and could see what others could not, grateful for all his help thru the years. Dekor just finished a kitchen remodel for us in November, we considered him a friend, so sorry he is not with us anymore. Hard to believe. Prayers for Nora and his siblings. He will be missed.
