Kevin Howard Klein

Kevin Howard "Cougar" Klein, 64, of Butler, formerly Port Vue, passed away Thursday March 7, 2024. He was born September 23, 1959 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Curtis H. and Flora Evelyn (Castro) Klein. Kevin was a 1977 graduate of South Allegheny High School where he was a Big Ten Conference football champion his senior year. He was a graduate of Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania Magna Cum Laude with High Honors where he received a Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, and a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling. He was a proud Marine, receiving the Meritorious Captains Mast Award for service above the call of duty on three occasions, and foreign service being a full year in Kyoto, Japan. He was an Agent for Erie Insurance Group and later a Counselor and Recreation Therapist for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, spending time helping veterans all over Wyoming and Pennsylvania. Kevin was also involved with Project Healing Waters and Toys for Tots with his lifetime service to his fellow countrymen. In his younger days, he was a Boy Scout and played the guitar. He also was a player and coach with Port Vue Athletic Association, went on a Mission Trip to Romania with First Free Evangelical Church, as well as being an avid sportsman, hunter and fisherman. Kevin is survived by his three siblings, Darlene (Alfred) Vila of Palm Bay, FL, Curtis A. (Helen) Klein of Pittsburgh, Lara (Michael) Ravida of Gibsonia; nieces and nephews, Michael (Alyshia) Ravida, Jr., Bryan Ravida, Anthony Vila, Jason Totty, Nicholas (Katelyn) Ravida, and Jeremy Vila; great nieces and nephews, Kaily, Colton, Logan, Riley and Brynlee Ravida; aunts, uncles, and cousins.
