Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home on Feb. 26, 2025.
Kevin Dennis Lowney, age 83 of Estero, FL, passed away February 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 8, 1941, in Malden, Massachusetts, to Mary Harrington Lowney and Cornelius Lowney, of Bere Island, Ireland. Kevin embraced his Irish heritage and carried it with pride throughout his life.
Kevin was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Susan (Doherty) Lowney, with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised four daughters who were his pride and joy.
A graduate of Northeastern University, Kevin built a successful sales career at Fort Howard and later Georgia Pacific Paper Company. Kevin had a deep passion for golf, playing regularly at Lake Forest Country Club and Grandezza Country Club and scored three impressive holes-in-one. He and Susan enjoyed decades of golf together, both watching and playing all over the world.
Beyond golf, Kevin had a love for the New England Patriots and St. Louis Blues. He was a voracious reader, an eager student of World War II history, and a crossword puzzler. His sharp wit, extensive vocabulary, and keen memory made him an engaging storyteller. He was a devoted DIY enthusiast, always busy in his garage workshop, fixing, painting, and making home improvements.
Kevin was known for his sense of humor and signature phrases and nicknames, his love of family vacations in the station wagon with a pop-up camper, and his dedication to capturing memories as the family photographer. He had a knack for always knowing the headquarters of any business and an uncanny ability to find the silver lining in any situation.
Above all, Kevin was immensely proud of his family and their accomplishments. He instilled in his daughters the belief that they could achieve anything, encouraging them to pursue careers not typical for women of their time. He took great pride in his grandchildren, celebrating their successes and supporting them wholeheartedly.
Kevin's legacy of love, laughter, and perseverance will live on in those who were fortunate enough to know him. His family will forever cherish the stories, wisdom, and warmth he shared.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife Susan Lowney; daughters Carrie Lowney, Kathleen Lowney, Kristen Lowney (Chris Kelly), and Karen Lowney; and grandchildren Peter Kelly, Daniel Kelly, Carolyn Kelly, Rosie Soo and Sydney Soo. Kevin is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lowney and Cornelius Lowney; his brothers Brendan Lowney and Martin Lowney; and his granddaughter Katrina Lowney.
