Kevin Lyons, Atlanta, GA, formerly of the Bronx, New York, passed away unexpectedly on November 18, 2024. Kevin was born on February 11, 1965 to Patrick "Paddy" and Rose Lyons in New York City. He was the much loved husband of Kathi, who he spent 34 happy years with; devoted father of Callan (Catherine), Kyle, and Conor; and most recently, the loving grandfather ("Big Kev") to Emerson. Kevin is predeceased by his father, Paddy; brother, Tommy (Jeannie); mother-in-law, Katie McHale; and father-in-law, Gene McHale. Kevin is survived by many loving family members in New York, Ireland and England.
Kevin dedicated his life to service. In 1996, he began his life's calling as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Throughout his FBI career, Kevin worked in various capacities at the New York field office, Indianapolis field office, Buffalo field office and FBI Headquarters in Washington D.C. In 2018, he retired as a Deputy Assistant Director in the FBI's Criminal Investigative Division. After a long and successful career with the FBI, Kevin entered the private sector and worked at Scientific Games in Atlanta, where he held the position of Senior Director of Compliance and Security. Kevin was a natural leader and touched the lives of many throughout his careers.
In his youth, Kevin was a standout basketball player at St. Nicholas of Tolentine High School and Lehman College in the Bronx. In 1987, Kevin was honored to be named the CUNY tournament MVP. In the years since, he made sure nobody would forget he could still hoop! As an avid sports fan, he passed on his love of sports to his children through many years coaching, cheering them on and taking them to collegiate and professional sporting events.
Kevin enjoyed spending quality time with his family, especially at the dinner table telling stories and sharing laughs. Some of his favorites were talking about his and Kathi's childhood in the Bronx, stories from the FBI and his Irish family and heritage. Kevin's family was everything to him. He was a man of extraordinary integrity, a pillar of strength and was as loyal and dependable as they come.
Kevin will be dearly missed by his wife, children, mother and family. He was so very loved.

I worked with Kevin in Indianapolis. He was an absolute class act and the rare leader who was accessible, down-to-earth, and relatable while also being unquestionably respected. He treated the most junior employee with the same respect and attention that he treated the most senior. I offer my most sincere condolences to his family. He left an incredible mark and the world is a better place for having had him in it.

I first met Kevin when I started my career at the FBI in 2008 Indianapolis, coming from the US Postal Inspection Service, I was a small fish in a rather huge pond. He was my supervisor from 2008 until he left for D.C. in 2015. He was a wonderful supervisor and teacher, he was a very patient man never making me feel small. Over the years our relationship turned to a friendship that carried over when both he and I retired. I last heard from him in August, when I contacted him and whished him a happy six (6) year anniversary with Scientific Games. His response back was heartfelt as always with Kevin telling me what a great friend I was to him and telling me to be safe.

Kevin, you will be missed, may you rest in peace my friend.

Mr. Lyons was my boss when I worked for the FBI at the Resident Agency Bloomington, Indiana. He was strong, caring but most definitely a leader. You have my deepest sympathies as you and everyone who knew him has lost a great man.

I worked for Kevin in indianapolis. My mother was scammed over the phone - when Kevin found out - which was too late - he was ready to perform a sting operation to catch the criminals!! He was the most caring man God put on this earth - he will be missed by so many of us.
