December 18, 1958 ~ September 24, 2022
Newburgh, NY
Kevin M. McEwen, (the biggest Yankees fan ever) passed away peacefully at St.
Luke's Hospital with his loving family by his side on
September 24, 2022 after a long battle with cancer
complications. He was 63.
He was born December 18, 1958 in Newburgh, he
was the son of the late Robert and Beverly McEwen.
Kevin was a lifelong Newburgh resident, and
was known and loved by so many people. When
he was a child, he wanted to be a mail man and
his dream came true. He worked for the United
States Postal Service as a letter carrier for over 25
years. He took so much pride in his job and even when he became ill, he
always hoped to return.
Kevin enjoyed his life to the fullest, playing basketball, softball and bowling.
He was an avid Yankees fan, most of his wardrobe donning pinstripes and
NYs. He was the life of the party and always knew how to make people laugh.
He had one of the biggest hearts imaginable and he was always generous
and thoughtful even when he was at his lowest.
He is survived by his pride and joy, daughter, Danielle McEwen, "Son
in law", Dr. KimTam Vaugeois as well as, the light of his life, his grandson,
Ryan (Hurleyville); his brother, Jeffrey McEwen and sister in law Lisa (New
Windsor); his sister Kathy Thompson, brother in law Phil (Rock Tavern),
and their children Andrea and husband Daron (son, Hudson), Erica and her
husband Eamon; and his companion, Lynn Barr. He was predeceased by his
parents, Robert and Beverly McEwen, brother, Scott McEwen, and nephew
Phillip Thompson. Kevin gathered friends who became family; Bill Riley,
Lenny Swanson, Eddie Benish, Rose and Claude Sculley, Victoria Cazorla
and Dawn Sheehan-Morrow. He will be fondly remembered and missed
by these people and many more.
Family would like to thank the nursing staff at St. Lukes Hospital, John
Bova, LSW, Rogia Rosemberg, Palliative Care NP, Kristina Barnhart, Hospice
NP, and family friend, Trish Harris, RN for their compassion in Kevin's care.
