Kevin T. O'Connor, 74, a thirty-eight-year resident of Davidsonville, MD, and previously of Greenbelt, MD, died on Monday, June 16, in Bowie, MD after courageously battling Alzheimer's Disease for nine years.
Born on November 7, 1950, in Riverdale, MD, to the late Frank and Marcelle O'Connor, Kevin was a graduate of St. Mary's School in Landover Hills. He then earned a diploma, signed by President Nixon, in 1970 from the U.S. Capitol Page School in Washington, DC. While attending the U.S. Capitol Page School, he worked 4 years as a U.S. Senate Capitol Page. Kevin also served his country proudly in the US Army, being stationed in Germany during the Vietnam era.
He retired from the Architect of the US Capitol, the Senate and House Engineers Office, after 30 years of service. His most rewarding aspect of his position was taking the Members of Congress and various staff, and celebrities on the U.S. Capitol Dome Tours.
After retirement, he went on to work at Renditions and South River Golf Courses. He was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church in Davidsonville, MD, and enjoyed coaching Little League baseball.
In addition to his parents, Kevin was preceded in death by his twin sons, Ryan and Kyle O'Connor; his brothers, Frank and Brian O'Connor; and his sister, Deirdre O'Connor.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Robyn O'Connor; his siblings, Sean O'Connor of Hagerstown and Maura O'Connor of Rehoboth Beach, DE; his brothers-in-law, Don Bulmer of Clinton, MD and Steve Bulmer of Ocean City, MD; his nephew, who has always been like a son to Kevin and Robyn, Sean O'Connor, Jr.; and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Kevin's life at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 West Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD on Tuesday, July 8, from 10 to 11 am, with Mass of Christian Burial being offered at 11 am. A graveside service will follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville, MD, at 2:30 pm.

Uncle Kevin was such a wonderful uncle, brother (to my mom, Deirdre), husband, dad, family member, and friend. He was always there when you needed him, for me, for my mom, for Maura, for all of us. He had the best smile and the most contagious laugh, I can still hear that classic O´Connor laugh. And no one could tell a story like he could.

You could tell how much he loved Robyn and the twins, his nephews, nieces, and all his family. I'm sure he's in a better place, reunited with Ryan and Kyle, his parents and siblings, probably laughing and telling stories together. Sending much love to Robyn and the whole family. He´ll be so deeply missed.

Love,
Alexa Montefiore

Kevin was a family man, devoted to Robyn and their boys. It showed. You could hear it in all of his stories and in his gentle sense of humor. I wish I'd known him better and for longer. With love to you, Robyn, and to Maura and Sean and the rest of his family.

Our deepest condolences to Robyn and family on the passing of Kevin. We met Kevin and Robyn when we purchased our home near Bethany Beach in 2008. We enjoyed talking to Kevin and hearing his stories about his time at the U.S. Capitol. Kevin had a long interesting career serving his country and meeting celebrities and politicians. Even though Kevin held a prestigious position he always remained down to earth and was easy to talk to, often sharing many amusing stories about his escapades. We are sure that Kevin is in a better place, where there is no suffering or pain, and has once again is united with his sons, Ryan and Kyle.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Robyn and Family.

My deepest sympathy to Robyn and family. Kevin was a great neighbor and friend to the Miller family over the last 35 years. I will always treasure the times we shared with the twins and my 4 kids on our visits back to Davidsonville. Rest in Peace my friend and join your boys in heavenly bliss.

Remembering beloved Kevin.

He was a truly special soul. He was more like a brother than brother in-law to Don and a true friend to us both.

Robyn, Kevin was your best friend, and your soulmate and your love for each other will live on forever.

Kevin´s light will continue to shine in our hearts and his memory a blessing to us all.

Love, Rochelle and Don
