Kevin John Phillips

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Kevin John Phillips, age 61, who left this world far too soon on September 24, 2025. Kevin passed away peacefully at home surrounded by love.

Kevin's greatest pride and joy in life was his family, who he took exceptional care of.

Born on January 22, 1964, to his beloved parents Leslie and Nancy Phillips.

Loving husband to Dana Phillips for 30 beautiful years, who affectionately called him "Phillips", and endlessly proud father to Isabella, also known as "Lou" – who were the center of his world.

Treasured brother to Peggy Jackson (Jerry), Mark Phillips, and Angela Crase. Proud uncle to Kenny Crase (Carina), Brian Jackson (Brianna), and Stephen Jackson (Kristie) and adored great-uncle to Lilyann Jackson and Stella Crase.

Favorite son-in-law to Carol Beecherl.

As the ultimate girl dad, Kevin cherished every moment spent with his daughter, whether it was dancing at daddy-daughter events, getting his nails painted, coaching her softball team, cheering her on at basketball and volleyball games, or playing the waiter at her birthday tea party. As she grew older, he taught her the "right way" to do a tequila shot and how to play blackjack at the casino.

To know Kevin was to know happiness. He was a vibrant soul whose smile and laugh lit up every room. He was patient, kind, and selfless. His loyalty ran deep, his kindness knew no bounds, and his joy for life was both humbling and inspiring. He gave without question, loved without condition, and lived every day with purpose and passion.

Kevin was the embodiment of fun and light. He was the original photo bomber. Babies loved him and children gravitated toward him – likely because he never truly stopped being one himself. He proudly claimed to be a Toys "R" Us kid, and he lived that truth fully.

Kevin had an infectious zest for life and was a man of many passions: golf, poker, architecture, sketching, rollercoasters, swimming, and traveling. He loved the thrill of new experiences – skydiving, helicopter rides, and ziplining. Kevin also enjoyed simple pleasures such as cutting the grass, grilling or building/fixing things around the house. He had a sweet tooth and was always game for an ice cream run even in the winter; he loved cheesecake, cookies, pie, and said there was always room for dessert.

Despite life's challenges, Kevin met every obstacle with grace, courage, and unwavering optimism. His strength was powerful. No matter what he was facing he would say, "It's all good, it will be okay". His outlook on life was one of endless hope. He truly saw the glass half full, and he made us all want to do the same.

Above all, Kevin loved with his whole heart and will forever be remembered for the joy he brought, the love he gave, and the strength he showed. His was a life beautifully lived and a soul that will never be forgotten.

To honor Kevin's legacy, his family asks that you take time to do what he loved: cheer loudly for the Detroit Lions and U of M football, spend time with family, enjoy a round of golf or play a game of poker with friends, and get to know your neighbors as they often become family too.
