Kevin Joel Rhoton was born on August 31, 1955 in Yakima, Washington, to Joe James Rhoton and Clare Center Rhoton. He moved to San Antonio, Texas and later to Waverly, Missouri. He loved working for the family business, Buck Orchards, with his father and siblings, learning to drive a tractor at the age of 14. Kevin graduated from Santa Fe High School in Alma, Missouri, in 1973.
Kevin had two boys, Cory and Brady, with his first wife, Patricia. He then moved back to Yakima in 1989, where he met the love of his life, Bonnie, who had two children, Derek and Brandi. Together they welcomed their daughter, Josie, into the family. They spent 36 years together on their beloved farm. They enjoyed camping, fishing, and family beach trips. Kevin's goal was to keep Bonnie laughing, which he did until the very end.
Kevin owned and operated his exterminating and snowplow businesses for 32 years. He took great pride in serving his customers around the Valley.
Kevin had many interests and talents including building and tinkering around the farm, raising and loving an array of animals, but most of all fishing. Kevin spent years fishing at Drano Lake. His favorite fishing trips were the ones where he got to take his friends and family out. He was happiest with a rod in hand and family in the boat.
Kevin loved being a dad and papa. Following kids to sporting events, teaching them about anything they showed interest in, and most of all making them laugh. He loved a good pun or inappropriate joke and could talk to anyone about anything.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Bonnie Nash; children, Cory (Michelle) Rhoton, Derek Nash, Brandi (Eric) Berg, Brady Rhoton, and Josie (Anthony) Wade; 13 grandchildren, whom he loved very much; mother, Clare Rhoton; sister, Karen (Mark) Rhoton and brother, Thomas Coke. He is preceded in death by his father, Joe Rhoton; siblings, Susan and Bradley Coke.
In his last days, Kevin was able to be at home surrounded by his family. Kevin passed away on Sunday, April 6th, with his wife and daughter at his side. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all the lives he touched. We will cherish all the memories.
At his request, there will be no services. Please make a toast or catch a fish in his honor.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Yakima Humane Society and can be sent in care of Brookside Funeral Home (PO Box 1267, Moxee, WA 98936) or you can plant a tree in his honor through Brookside Funeral Home who is caring for the family.
