Kevin Donald Shaw, 68, left our world surrounded by loved ones providing him a beautiful and peaceful ending. He passed in his loving wifes arms at their home in the wee hours of January 12, 2025. Kevin was the son of the late Donald S. Shaw and Evelyn J. "Sooky" Shaw. He grew up in Auburn, NY and attended Auburn High School Class of 1974. Kevin immediately enlisted with The United States Marine Corp, in Camp Lejeune for 4 years, settling in
Raleigh, North Carolina after his enlistment ended. Kevin began his 40+ years with Firetrol in the early 1980s. Initially, he began in the manufacturing plant, often wearing t-shirts such as "a lude will put you in the mood". Given his extroverted personality, he was eventually given the opportunity to move from manufacturing to sales with the caveat that he lose the earring and get a haircut. Kevin thrived in sales for decades. He made so many lifelong friends throughout his career. Kevin was loved and respected by many colleagues, customers, vendors, and senior management. Kevin served as the manager of a large and valuable territory for Firetrol that stretched from Illinois to Maine and down to Virginia. The prime trading areas were Metro NYC, Boston, Chicago, and Baltimore/WDC, and Virginia. Kevin was well known in these areas and followed simple rules he set for himself: be the expert in your territory, be of service to your customers, and have a passion for your products. Kevin lived these to their fullest extent. Firetrol would not be the company it is today without Kevins decades of service, stewardship, passion, and leadership. Kevin was one of a kind. The mold was absolutely broken when he was born. He was so optimistic about life. He almost always had a smile on his face. He battled multiple cancers for over seven years but this did not diminish his outlook, passion, and zeal for life, or his incredibly robust humor. He was such a positive force for all of us. He was an incredibly present friend to many. Kevin was a compassionate, loving, and incredibly giving man to his family, his community and his friends. His gift of gab helped him make friends wherever he went. He was considered the "Mayor" of three different neighborhoods. He brought many of us together to form a community. He had an infectious giggle, a passion for life, literature and reading, learning, engaging, people, magic, cooking, French culture, coin collecting, exercising, his family and eating. His eating was legendary in every circle of his life. The best food, the best restaurants. He could find them! He was an adored and loving husband to Linda (Langenberger Brown) and loving stepfather to Lilli, Hannah and Annabelle Brown. He is also survived by his loving sister Karen Campodonico, nephew Joseph Campodonico (Samantha) and two daughters, niece, Catherine Trippi (Nick) and 2 daughters, as well as several cousins in Auburn, NY. He will be eternally missed by his sweet German Shephard, Gunner. Kevin was celebrated and remembered at a private memorial service on Sunday, February 5, 2025. Many, many thanks to Justin and Vivian. Given his love of animals and volunteer experience at Saving Grace Animals for Adoption NC, his family requests, if you so desire, to make a donation in Kevins name. Saving Grace, 13400 Old Creedmoor Road, Wake Forest, NC 27587, https://savinggracenc.org. The family would also extend its gratitude to the many beautiful influences in our lives over many years. The Oncology Department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill were so delightful and caring, especially Paula. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Kevin definitely was an enigma at that teaching hospital! We would also like to thank Transitions Hospice Care. Thank you to the many visitors, especially our neighbors, for help with walking Gunner and providing meals, and the many many prayers. Shannon, you were an absolute lifeline. God Bless you. Momma, you were such a comfort for all of us. Karen, my sweet sister from another mother, it was so healing and powerful having you here with us. Please know that we are missing many but we are grateful for your help in making the end of Kevins life peaceful and beautiful. The outpouring of love and memories are comforting. Life is filled with many struggles. Hug the ones you love, call the ones you love, see the ones you love, forgive the ones you love. We may never know when that opportunity will be gone.
