Kevin Loy Smith

Kevin, 49, passed away on Thursday, May 16th, 2024. He was born August 5th, 1974, in Bossier City, Louisiana to Michael and Sharron Smith. He was the little brother and best friend of Crissy Smith Dobbs. From the time he was a small child, he was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Kevin loved football and was an outstanding player at Airline High School and Louisiana Tech University. He loved to dance, water ski, snow ski, hunt, and spend time at Lake Greeson. He was always the voice of the family - the first choice for prayers and speeches at events and holidays. He was an adoring father to his only daughter, Caroline Smith. Kevin was a lifelong best friend to many. Kevin was an avid learner, always reading about science and history. He had a special place in his heart for the macaques, especially Sweet Pea and Popeye. 

Kevin will always be remembered for his laugh and the way he loved so fiercely. We couldn’t have asked for a better person in our family and will miss him every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him. 

Kevin was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Louis and Earlene Thomas; paternal grandparents, Jack and Odell Smith; and longtime pets, Priscilla and Harley. He is survived by his parents, Michael and Sharron Smith; his daughter, Caroline Smith; his sister and her husband, Crissy and Glenn Dobbs; his niece and her husband, Madi and Asa Warren; his nephew and his fiancée, Michael Dunman and Katherine Jones; his pets, Lightning and Sammy; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

Pallbearers will be Michael Dunman, Glenn Dobbs, Asa Warren, Thomas Waggoner, Dylan Waggoner, and Matthew Waggoner. Honorary pallbearers are Jason Braswell. Matt Marlar, Steve Harvill, John Duncan, Brandon Tree, and Bart Harvill. 

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service with funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana with a burial to follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park in Haughton, Louisiana. Kevin’s family thanks you for your condolences and prayers during this difficult time.
