Kevin Edward Swenson, lovingly known as "Grampy," passed away peacefully and with his wife by his side, on September 12, 2025, at the age of 71.
Born on February 13, 1954, Kevin was the son of the late Edward and Wanda Swenson. He grew up in Whitman, Massachusetts and graduated from Whitman-Hanson Regional High School, Class of 1972. His academic pursuits took him to UMass Dartmouth and later to Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he honed the skills that would shape a remarkable career in civil engineering.
Kevin's work as a civil engineer took him across the globe, including impactful projects in Africa and Indonesia, with a specific focus on the construction of nuclear power plants.
Since 1996, Kevin shared his life with his wife, Carol (DiMestico) Swenson. He was a proud stepfather to four grown children and a cherished "Grampy" to eight grandchildren and one great-grandson. Kevin also leaves behind his sister Sondra Peacock, several nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by his sister, Elaine Swenson.
A man of many passions, Kevin was a true enthusiast of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, a proud member of the NRA, and an avid gun collector. He was also a skilled woodworker, whose craftsmanship left a lasting impression on those lucky enough to receive one of his handmade pieces. Kevin had a special connection with all animals, a trait that reflected his kind and gentle spirit.
Kevin's legacy is one of intelligence, loyalty, and dedication. He will be remembered for his dry humor, one liners, and the ability to make his family feel safe and well cared for.
Grampy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local animal shelter, or keep his spirit alive by thinking of Grampy next time you pat and take comfort in your favorite furry friend.
