April 24, 1963 – October 18, 2025 Kevin Tharrett, 62, of Antwerp, NY, passed away at his home in Oxbow, under the care of Jefferson County Hospice, surrounded by loved ones after a life full of adventure, laughter, and dedication to his family and community.
Born on April 24, 1963, in Gouverneur, NY, Kevin was the beloved son of the late Patricia (Tead) Ellis and Roland Tharrett. He was a proud and loyal member of the Oxbow Fire Department for 35 years, where he served his community with bravery and commitment.
Kevin worked for many local construction companies as a skilled heavy equipment operator and was known for his strong work ethic and fearless spirit. A true daredevil at heart, Kevin had a passion for riding three- and four-wheelers, hunting, fishing, and taking long, peaceful drives down country backroads. Above all, he cherished spending time with his close-knit circle of friends and beloved family.
Kevin is survived by his devoted wife, Michelle; his sister Rhonda (Leslie) Robinson; and his sister-in-laws Christine Cornell, Lisa Schmidt and Tracy (Jeff) White. He was a loving uncle to Rolanda (Mark) Curtis, Chad (Ashley) Robinson, Les (Melissa) Robinson, Julie Cornell, Cassandra (Chad) Woods, Brittany (Jake) VanOrnum, Darren (Nicole) Fairbanks, and Timothy (Brittaney) Fairbanks. His mother in law Fay Stronach. He was also blessed with 17 great-nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly and took great joy in watching grow.
Kevin was predeceased by his parents, Patricia (Tead) Ellis and Roland Tharrett, his brother Roland and a nephew, Erik Fairbanks Kevin will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his kind heart, and his unwavering loyalty to those he loved. His legacy of laughter, strength, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A celebration of Kevin's life will be held at the home of Kevin and Michelle to be determined by family.
