Kevin Thompson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tucker, Yocum, & Wilson Funeral Home on Feb. 19, 2026.
Kevin Wade Thompson, 59, left this earthly world for heaven, surrounded by family at home in Georgetown, Kentucky on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Shirley Anderson Thompson and Johnny Roy Thompson on April 28, 1966, Kevin was a dedicated family man, son, brother, father, uncle, and PawPaw.

Kevin met the love of his life in Hope. They dated three years and then married near the rocky tops around Pigeon Forge. They spent the next 23 years creating a loving, Christian home where they could raise their family. Kevin was selfless, always present, and never missed his children's games and events. He loved being one of the University of Tennessee's big fans in Kentucky too. He attended many Tennessee vs. Kentucky football and basketball games, taking his boys along. Kevin was easy find in the big blue crowds, proudly covered in UT orange. Even Kentucky Sports Radio noticed which made him a bit famous across the internet. Yep, that's Kevin in the picture you might've seen.

Kevin was a homebody but loved traveling across the U.S. He and Hope made many return visits to Pigeon Forge for their anniversaries. On one trek west through Colorado, his incredible kindness and huge heart placed an indelible memory with his new wife. Kevin helped a complete stranger by changing their tire on the dark interstate in the pouring rain. He took his son Samuel out west on another trip. They drove through Chicago, the Dakota's, and onward to Washington state and the Oregon Trail. While he loved a road trip, he loved pushing the limits blazing his way back home, and without stopping if he could. He fearlessly enjoyed speed on his motorcycles and driving his cars. His free time was often spent tinkering on engines, fixing things around the house, and restoring some classic cars. Hope even surprised him with a favorite by buying back his very first car, a '71 Ford Maverick Grabber. He held onto that piece of history.

Kevin retired from TMMK with 33 1/2 years of perfect attendance. He was a skilled tradesman in maintenance and stamping. Kevin will be remembered as a warrior too. His strength and resilience during his battle with cancer were an example for all watched, loved, and supported him. Kevin was proud of his home church, Trinity Assembly of God in Georgetown. He was active in their youth and outreach programs.

Kevin will forever be remembered by his loving wife, Hope; his mother and father, Shirley and Roy Thompson; his sons, Samuel Warren, and Breishon Anthony; a bonus daughter and son, Kara and Josh Johnson; his grandchildren Alexia, TJ, and Mia; his brother and sister in law, Mike and Debbie Thompson; his nieces, Shae Pochodazy, and Morgan Thompson; and his faithful dog, Murphy.

Funeral Services for Kevin will be on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The Funeral will begin at 1:00 pm with friend and Pastor Donnie Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in the Georgetown Cemetery, where Pallbearers will be Breishon Anthony, Samuel Warren, Josh Johnson, Mike Thompson, John Furnier, Steven Kelleher, Dave Hurley, and Tommy Douglass.

Though many in Central Kentucky may not wear his favorite, Tennessee orange, all in attendance are encouraged to wear bright colors instead of black, or blue, in tribute to Kevin.

Donations in Kevin's memory are recommended to the Trinity Assembly of God in Georgetown and Bluegrass Care Navigators in Cynthiana. Friends and family are also encouraged to share their condolences and memories here on Kevin's tribute wall.
