Carolyn Hampton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tucker, Yocum, & Wilson Funeral Home on Mar. 19, 2026.
Carolyn Sue Hampton 83, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home on March 14, 2026, with her loving husband by her side, just as he had been throughout their many years together.

Born and raised in Sadieville, Kentucky, Carolyn was the cherished daughter of the late Jim and Lorraine Herron. She grew up on the family farm, where some of her fondest memories were made. Carolyn often spoke with joy about her childhood days-playing among the chickens and ducks, running barefoot through the fields, and chasing after her older siblings with laughter and determination.

At 19 years old, Carolyn met the love of her life, Alvin Hampton. From that moment on, you rarely saw one without the other. Their marriage spanned more than 60 beautiful years and stood as a true testament to enduring love, devotion, and partnership.

Carolyn was a proud and faithful member of Newtown Christian Church, where her quiet strength and kind heart were evident to all. She also worked for many years at Burke Furniture, where she was known for her dependability, warmth, and sincere care for others.

Carolyn found joy in life's simple pleasures and loved staying active and social. She bowled for many years and made many of her closest and dearest friends on the bowling lanes. In addition, she was Bingo's biggest fan and would have played every single day if she could, both bowling and Bingo bringing her laughter, excitement, and cherished friendships that meant so much to her.

Carolyn was the heart of a very large family and was deeply loved by so many. Her home, her smile, and her gentle presence brought comfort to all who knew her. She will be remembered for her compassionate spirit, her deep love for family, and the grace she carried throughout her life. The legacy she leaves behind lives on through the many lives she touched.

She is survived by her devoted husband of more than 60 years, Alvin Hampton; her sisters-in-law, June Henderson and Gloria Gibbs; and her brother-in-law, Bobby Hampton and Russell Edwards. She is also lovingly remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, each of whom was dearly loved and held close to her heart. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Lorraine Herron; her sister, Betty Edwards; her brother, Emery "Buddy" Herron; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara Barron and Peggy Marshall.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life service beginning at 6:00 p.m., at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home in Georgetown, Kentucky. Family and friends are warmly encouraged to attend and share their memories, stories, and reflections in honor of Carolyn's life. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.

Friends and family are also welcome to share condolences and cherished memories on Carolyn's tribute wall at www.tuckeryocumwilson.com.

Carolyn will be deeply missed, but her love, kindness, laughter, and joyful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her so dearly. Please join us as we celebrate a life that was truly and beautifully lived.
