Kim Felker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center - Morton on Aug. 27, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

WASHINGTON – Kim A. Felker, 70, of Washington, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. After a courageous five-year battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, he went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and is now free from suffering in his earthly body.

He was born on May 15, 1955, in Peoria, Illinois, to Eugene and Delores (Irmeger) Felker. Kim married Twila Phillips on June 20, 1981, in Groveland, Illinois.

Surviving are his wife, Twila Felker of Washington; children, Trisha (Daniel) Schertz of Gibson City, Illinois and Josh (Nicole) Felker of Washington; grandchildren, Harper and Noah Schertz and Ava and McKenna Felker; and sister Kathie (Steve) Schoon of Morton.

Kim dearly loved his family, cherishing every moment spent with them, especially his beloved grandchildren. A lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan, he also enjoyed playing golf for many years.

Professionally, Kim was active in local banking for over 40 years, beginning his career at First National Bank of Morton in 1972 and retiring from Morton Community Bank in 2019. He was deeply involved in his community, serving with the Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, and Kiwanis Club. He also volunteered at multiple local food pantries, always eager to lend a helping hand.

Kim and his wife, Twila, found great joy in opening their home as a host family for the Peoria Chiefs, providing a welcoming space for players during baseball season.

Above all, Kim's faith was central to his life. Salvation was of utmost importance to him, and he served in countless roles within his church and various ministries for several years. His goofy sense of humor, generous heart, and servant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A funeral service will at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2025 and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be at Groveland Evangelical Mennonite Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made The Christian Center in Peoria, Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria or a food pantry of your choice.

A special thank you to the staff at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. And a huge heartfelt thank you to the staff and work family at Uftring Chevrolet in Washington.
