Kim Denise Laird was born November 8th, 1956, in Watsonville California. She attended Contra Costa College and was a member of Job's Daughters which she believed help set her moral compass and love for her country. Kim was one of two owners of BME Incorporated and held the position of Secretary Treasurer for 36 years. Kim passed away December 4th, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the age of 68, surrounded by her loved ones.
Kim was married to John Laird 13 days short of 47 years, they had been together for 49. While living in the San Francisco Bay Area and the California Foothills they maintained numerous properties together. She was a loving and devoted wife, a mother raising a beautiful daughter and son, all while maintaining her position and dedication to BME Incorporated. No task was beyond her scope of abilities. Kim loved golf, playing twice a week until the pain of her condition made it unbearable. Still, she would watch others play from afar with the use of binoculars. She was a great cook, and as work and travel lead us to the Orient, Kim was excited to try any new cuisine. Having a green thumb she loved to garden, caring for many indoor and outdoor species.
Kim is my best friend and the strongest person I've yet to meet. During her ten year battle with cancer she held that her faith in God gave her the strength and endurance to withstand the multiple treatments, surgeries, and effects of the disease. When first faced with her diagnosis of stage three colon cancer on February 2, 2015, I asked if we should wait to move forward with our goals. On the contrary, Kim felt we may have waited too long already and that we should expedite our ambitions.
Kim is preceded in death by her father Earl Desmond Jones, brother David Phillip Jones, and sister Robin Petta. Kim is survived by her loving husband John Scott Laird, daughter Mindy Heather Laird-Garcia, son John Desmond Laird, grandson Ryleigh Raul Garcia, sister Laura Travalini, and mother Mary Elizibeth Miller Jones.
