It is with great sadness that the family of Kim Rae Raymond share her passing on Monday, September 15, 2025 at the age of 69 from cancer. Kim was born in Battle Creek, MI, on September 27, 1955, as the youngest of four children to Dor and Violet VanWormer.
Kim was predeceased by her husband, Michael Raymond, whom she married in 1979. She is survived by her daughters: Christy (Mike) Boles; Sara (Chris) Andree; Annette (Mark) Howard; Nancy (Chad) Potter; and Christina Raymond. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Hanna (Jeff) Brown, Molly (Mike) Wilson, Colin Andree, Tyler Howard, Alison Andree, Brandon Burcher and her great grandchildren, Bristol, MJ, Brandon Burcher II, and JP Pike, nieces Kelly and Tracy, dear friends Joyce Coy, Jack and Doreen Woods, and Kurt and Wanda Hoyt.
Kim loved visits from family and friends, which were always met with a smile, a hot cup of coffee, love and laughter. Her home was a welcoming haven to so many regardless of the time of day. You could often find her on the porch watching hummingbirds, painting rocks with her grandchildren or turning boxes into play cars for them.
Amidst all the challenges life brought her way, Kim never wavered in her compassion for others and her family. She was self-made in so many ways and always found a way to get things done. She rearranged her furniture weekly, painted her walls constantly, and loved filling her home with trinkets she found or was gifted. She could save any plant in distress and welcomed and cared for any dog that needed to be loved.
Kim's kindness and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A funeral service will not take place as per Kim’s request. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. Those that wish to honor Kim can do so by donating to an animal shelter of your choice or West Michigan Cancer Center. Kim’s Facebook page will remain open for anyone to share memories or messages with the family.
