Kim E. Sterner, 68, of Dallastown PA, passed away June 10, 2024 surrounded by his family at his home.
Kim was born on January 6th, 1956, to the late Betty M. (Hartman) and Richard E. Sterner in York, PA. Kim graduated from West York High School, Class of 1974, and was an Honorary member of the Dallastown Area Class of 1973.
Kim began his career working for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in 1974. He became Service Manager of Henry Tire Service, Leader Heights Location in 1991 where he formed many of the bonds he held for the remainder of his life. He was part of the transition to Brooks-Huff Tire and Auto and worked for them for 15 years. He retired March 31, 2021.
Kim spent his years as a volunteer baseball coach with the Dallastown Baseball Program, a children's department Sunday School assistant, and as a member of the York Chapter #67 The Issak Walton League of America.
Kim was elected to the Dallastown Borough Council for two terms where he embodied his favorite saying, "Love Thy Neighbor as Thyself."
Kim is survived by his wife of 46 years Sandra (Ramage) Sterner who was at his side until the end. The pride of his life was his son Kyle, his daughter-in-law Rachel, and his two grandchildren, Guinevere and Tristan. He loved to spend time with them, letting Gwen paint his nails, and talking about cars with Tristan.
He is also survived by his sister Susan Doll and partner Rick Miller, and two nephews; sister, Melissa Shanbarger and husband Scott, and a niece and nephew; brother-in-law William Ramage II and wife Pia, and two nieces; mother-in-law Geraldine Ramage and late father-in-law William Ramage; and uncle, Jerry Sterner and aunts, Janie Sterner and Pat Sullivan.
Kim loved animals and will be joining his late dogs Misty and Nickie.
Kim loved all his friends and customers working diligently to make their vehicles safe, learning about their lives, and being their voice at council meetings.
The family wants to thank neighbors, friends, and others that helped Kim through his cancer journey. Terry Billet, Glenn Miller, Mark Kocher, Scott Wagner, Ed Shane, Monika Joshi M.D., Kathey Facer CRNP, Jadia Ditzler RN, Judy Thomas RN, and the many staff members of the Penn State Cancer Institute and Penn State Milton S.
