Kim Douglas Widrig, age 74, passed away on June 19, 2023, at the Laurels of Galesburg. He was born February 17, 1949, in Grayling, Michigan to William Earl, Jr. and Margery May (Broadbent) Widrig. Kim graduated from Gaylord High School in 1967 and served in the United States Navy until 1972. He was proud of his service and his time spent in Okinawa. Kim married his high school sweetheart, Diane Michele Prokop, in October 1969. He went on to be a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA). He loved his job and retired after 40 years of providing exceptional medical care. Kim is survived by his wife, Diane, of nearly 54 years; four children, Chad (Renee) Widrig of Mt. Pleasant, Sonja Widrig of Kalamazoo, Kimberly (Nahro) Hamad of Alma, and Ashley Widrig of Kalamazoo; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Kyla (John) Fry of Gaylord and Kelley Rollins of North Carolina and numerous nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Kim's life will be held at the Community of Christ Church in Gaylord, 220 South Center Ave., Gaylord, MI 49735, on Sunday June 25, 2023 at 2:00 pm.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and Kim.I went to Gaylord Highschool with Kim. Kim was a good friend and I enjoyed running into him when he was living in Wolverine. I lost track of him a few years ago! Ke will be missed by all who have known him! He was a great guy!

I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Kim for just a few years but he quickly became a respected colleague and a treasured friend. We shared triumphs, tragedies, laughter and tears, always knowing the other fellow had your back. The only regret we shared was that we didn´t get to work together 30 or 40 years earlier. Kim was a wonderful person and a skilled practitioner, a good example for all. He, and his laughter, will be long remembered. Rick Apps, C.R.N.A.
