Kimberley Scheer, age 64, passed away on May 30, 2025. She was born on June 8, 1960, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to Edward and Frances Stueber. During childhood, she lived in Holland, Tulsa, and Parkersburg again for her last two years of high school. She earned a bachelor's degree from Ohio University as the Outstanding Graduate in the Department of Sociology. Kim also met Jim Scheer at OU and they wed on July 9, 1983, before leaving Athens on a wonderful journey together until her untimely death.
Kim stayed at home in Bay Village, Ohio, for 10 years to raise their two children, Matt and Laura, before she went back to college to acquire her social studies teaching certificate. Kim was rightfully proud of her 20 years teaching primarily psychology at Lakewood High School, but she was most proud of Matt and Laura, who both also graduated from Ohio University and have become very happy and successful adults.
Kim and Jim eventually retired and settled in Apple Valley, Ohio, to be closer to their grandchildren, Hailey and Chloe. Kim provided child care two days a week for the last five years as only a loving grandmother can, creating magic and fun for those two girls who were the greatest joy of her life. She had a green thumb and loved to grow colorful gardens, was a voracious reader of books, and picked up embroidery in retirement, which she spent hours doing, mostly hand-stitching gifts for her loved ones.
Kim and her husband did almost everything together, hosting parties for friends, traveling with their children including many trips to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and particularly special trips with Jim to her mother's homeland of Scotland and to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Kim created a wonderful family and life for herself and her husband and she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by Jim, Matt and Michelle and their children Hailey and Chloe, and Laura and her partner Ben.
There will be no formal memorial services beyond the immediate family, as Kim wanted.
Donations in Kim's memory may be made to the World Wildlife Fund.
