Kimberly Lillywhite Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 22 to Jul. 25, 2023.
It is with great sadness to share that Kimberly tragically passed away on July 16, 2023 as a result of injuries sustained in a white water rafting accident.

Kim's love of the outdoors, competition, and sport was matched only by her love for her family. Her fun and adventurous spirit touched the lives of many.

Kim was the eldest child of Robin and Dan Lillywhite, born on December 28, 1964, at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, Alaska. Kim graduated from Brawley Union High School in 1983. Kim attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and earned her degree in Ag Business. She was a Little Sister of the AGR Fraternity and active in the livestock program.

During Kim's time on the Central Coast, her love for the outdoors and adventure blossomed into an impressive hobby known as outrigger paddling. Kim's remarkable athleticism allowed her to compete and win many races with her paddling team, Pale Kai Outrigger Canoe Club.

When Kim began her relationship with her partner Kimo in 2022, she became an active board member of the Kai Wai Northbay Paddling Club in Petaluma, CA. Over the past year, Kim had a tremendous impact within the Kai Wai ohana where she continued to excel as not only a paddler, but provided mentorship for some of the kids. Kim and Kimo shared a passion for traveling together visiting places such as Tahiti, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji to name a few. Not to mention the countless road trips up and down the West Coast, camping and scouting out any body of water welcoming enough to take off in their canoes.

Kim is survived by her daughters, Madeline and Margaret; parents, Dan and Robin; sister, Julie (Ken) LaGrande; nephews, Andrew and Maxwell, her partner and fellow adventurer Kimo.

A private graveside service for the family will be held in Kim's memory on August 3rd in East Lawn Cemetery in Sacramento.

There will be a Paddle Out on August 5th in her memory. The prayer will begin at 9:30am with the paddle out starting at 10am at Avila Beach Park. There will also be food and entertainment to celebrate the life of Kimberly Lillywhite.

In Lieu of Flowers, Kai Wai Northbay Paddling Club has started a program under Kim's name where all proceeds will be directed towards covering the fees of their youth paddlers, and youth paddlers around Northern California. Please send all donations to P.O. Box 751236, Petaluma, CA, 94975.

I am so,so sorry for her parents', daughters', partner's, and friends' loss. It is unimaginable that she is gone, but what a spirit and what memories remain. She was inspirational, bright, kind, stern when needed, and just a beautiful spitfire.
