Kimberly "Kim" (Kologe) Lubeck, 56, of Avoca, passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with multiple sclerosis.
Born in Scranton on May 13, 1969, she was the daughter of Nancy (Spigarelli) Kologe and the late Joseph Kologe.
Kim earned a master's degree in nutrition and built a dedicated career with Sodexo North America, where her passion for helping others was evident in all she did. Her compassionate spirit extended beyond her professional life, as she found immense joy in caring for animals, particularly her beloved rescue dog, Bella. Above all, Kim cherished creating lasting memories with her grandson, Jax, filling their time together with warmth, laughter and love.
Her daughter, Sara, shares: "My mom had an extraordinary gift for making every moment special. When we visited from North Carolina, she went all out — cheering at baseball games, hosting warm family dinners, or throwing the perfect pizza party. She made the distance disappear. Jax adored every second with his grandma, and those memories will live on in us forever. Mom, you'll always be in our hearts."
In keeping with Kim's lifelong commitment to helping others, she generously donated her body to Sydney Jefferson Hospital to advance medical research and education, leaving a lasting legacy of selflessness.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Allied Services for their exceptional care, to her mother Nancy and brother Robert for their unwavering devotion to her care, Joe and Erin Kologe, Stacy Spigarelli, Arlene Shatrowskas and family, and Kim's aide, Cardenas Ramirez, for his friendship, kindness and compassionate support.
Kim is survived by her mother, Nancy Kologe; daughter, Sara E. Tipton (Daniel); grandson, Jax Lubeck; brothers, Joseph Kologe (Erin) and Robert Kologe; nephews, Joseph and Aiden Kologe; aunt, Arlene Shatrowskas (Tony); uncle, Frank Spigarelli (Grace); cousins, Stacey, Frankie and Stephen Spigarelli; and many other cousins.
Kim was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Kologe, her Aunt Elaine Kologe, and her maternal grandparents, Frank and Dorothy Spigarelli.
Contributions may be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Kim's memory.
There will be no public viewing hours. A celebration of Kim's life will be held at a later date.
