Kimberly A. Simon

Kimberly A. Simon, 58, of Erie, PA, died on Friday, August 15, 2025 at UPMC Hamot after an extended illness surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 19, 1966, a daughter of Joyce (Kennedy) Simon and Spencer Simon.

Kim was a graduate of McDowell High School, 1984. After high school, Kim worked as a CNA at ST. Vincent Hospital and later at Lakeshore Community Services caring for individuals with disabilities.

Kim was a kind, caring, and giving person who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. They were the love of her life. Kim enjoyed music, camping, and bingo. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan, cheering them on every week. Kim loved her dog Syre, who held a special place in her heart.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her children, Jennifer Francis (Danny), Timothy Black Jr. (Erica), both of Erie; her grandchildren, Aubrey, Amaya, Bubbie, and J.J.; her sister, Denise Prather (Tim) of Clearville, Pa; her brother, Timothy Simon (Diane) of Erie; her nieces and nephews, Jarrette, Hannah, Timmy, Tyson, and Spencer; her aunts, Freda Richko of Edinboro, Sandra Mitchell (Robert) of Michigan, and Lori Boback of Florida; her uncles, Tom Denning Sr., Rick Winchell, both of Erie; and many cousins.

She is preceded in death by her aunts Maxine Denning of Erie, Jenny Kennedy of Waynesburg, and Vicki Kaliszewski of Erie; her uncles William Kennedy of Erie and Boyd Kennedy of Waynesburg.

Friends and family may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, Pa 16504 on Saturday, August 23, from 10 am until the time of Memorial Service there at 12 pm. Burial will be private in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
