Kirby Dean Fuller

Kirby Dean Fuller was born on September 17, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He peacefully passed away on September 27th at his home at Brookdale 119th Street.
Kirby was a devoted family man, survived by his loving wife, Dixie Fuller, whom he married on June 11, 1955. Kirby is also survived by his three children: John Fuller and his wife Shari, Jeff Fuller and his wife Leslie, and Lori Wolf. He was a loving grandfather to Joshua Fuller, Danielle Fuller, Samantha Fuller, William Wolfe, Benjamin Wolfe, Chris Wilson, and great-grandson Daxton Fuller.
Kirby graduated from Drake University in Des Moines in 1958, with a Bachelor of Divinity, also the day his first son was born. He began his journey as a Minister of the Christian Church in Princeton, Illinois, and later served the congregation in Sigourney, Iowa. He also acted as a traveling pastor for small churches across Iowa.
Returning to Des Moines, Kirby pursued his passion for learning and earned his Master's Degree, a testament to his lifelong commitment to education and personal growth. Kirby later dedicated his professional career to serving the community, retiring from the Social Security Administration in Kansas City after years of dedicated service.
Kirby was known for his infectious sense of humor, bringing laughter and joy to those around him. He was a talented artist and ukulele player. Working in his garden was his favorite pastime.
Kirby was an active member of both the Shriners and Masonic Lodge for many years. He was an elder and active member of both Hillcrest Christian Church and Blue Valley Christian Church.
Tragically, Kirby was predeceased by his son, Jimmy Fuller, who passed away at the tender age of 8.
A memorial service to celebrate Kirby's life will be held on October 15th at 3:00 PM at Hillcrest Christian Church. Services may also be viewed on the Hillcrest Christian Church YouTube channel.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude's Hospital in Kirby's honor. If you wish to send flowers, please send them to Hillcrest Christian Church.
Kirby Dean Fuller will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His warm smile, unwavering love, infectious humor, and artistic talents will forever be cherished in our hearts.
