Kirk Lamar Burton

The wonderful life of Kirk Lamar Burton began when he was born on September 27, 1967, in Lewes, Delaware to the late Thelma and James Lee Burton, Sr. Kirk, lovingly known as "Dirty Bird" by family and friends, departed this life unexpectedly, on Saturday, February 3, 2024. He attended Cape Henlopen School District in Lewes, Delaware.
Kirk adored his two daughters Chamyra Lewis and Valerie Burton and would do anything for them. Kirk enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially going to their birthday parties, family reunions, cookouts and just enjoying life. He also loved driving to Florida, visiting his cousins, and having fun hanging out together.
Kirk worked at various jobs. He worked at Allen Foods and on a farm for Bobby. In the last few years, he was employed at Mountaire in Selbyville, Delaware. He loved working and performing different jobs, which included cutting grass and doing other odds and ends.
Kirk was well-known at Dunkin Donuts in Georgetown, the Quick Stop in Milton, and Royal Farms in Georgetown. They all knew he was going to stop in to chat and get his coffee (4 sugars & 2 creams). A shout out from special friends "The Pine Ridge Crew" and two very special friends, Roxane Brunson and Kymisha Price. He was also a member of the Philadelphia Pentecostal Holiness Church.
In addition to his parents, Kirk was preceded in death by two brothers, James Burton, Jr. and Irvin Rickards.
Kirk leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Chamyra Lewis, Seaford, DE, and Valerie Burton, Magnolia, DE; one goddaughter, Mel Jones; two godsons, Jeremia Jones and Micah Jones; grandchildren, Jayvion Burton, Tangla Burton, Araina Burton, Ja'Cari Burton, Fredrick and Levi Towers; five sisters, Diane Burton, Rehoboth, DE, Teresa Singletary (Joe) Dover, DE, Inez Upshur (Michael) Milton, DE, Wanda Burton and Ozelda Burton (fiancé, Michael) Milford, DE; three brothers, Marvin Harris and Earl Haris, Georgetown, DE, and Clarence Burton, Ellendale, DE; three aunts, Cordelia Hopkins, Millsboro, DE, Cornelia Bradley, Milford, DE and Jennie West (Rudolph), Fenwick Island, DE; two uncles, Marvin Powell of Wilmington, DE and Ernest Powell (Vanessa), Millsboro, DE, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
