Kirk Nathaniel White was born in
Newark, New Jersey on March 18, 1958. He was specially handpicked by his loving parents Henry and Willie Lee (Jones) White, where he became the "little brother" to his older sister, Denise. The White Family was now complete. Kirk was proud that he was born and raised in "Brick City"! He was educated in the Newark Public School System.
After attending the Newark Public School System, Kirk welcomed the birth of his first-born daughter, Anitra N. White on November 7, 1976. Also, during this time, Kirk began a life that could have destroyed him. His first experience with God was at the Church of Christ in
Newark, New Jersey, where the White Family attended church faithfully. However, as the Word of God tells us that if a child is trained up in the way that he should go, though he may stray he will return, and that he did. The prayers of his father and mother sustained him, and eventually he soon found himself in Paterson, New Jersey, where he began to rebuild himself physically, mentally, spiritually, and financially. Kirk joined New Christian Tabernacle, Church of God in Christ, where the late great Rev. Arthur J. Farrah, Jr. was the founder and pastor. It was at this time that he met Mother Irma L. Bonds, who was very instrumental in reshaping his love of God until she departed this earth. In January of 1991 he met the love of his life, Leah, and after a three-month, whirlwind romance they entered holy matrimony on March 30th. They welcome their first daughter together, Joycelyn, in December of the same year. Almost 10 years later they welcome another daughter, Jada, on March 8, 2001. Kirk continued to serve as choir member, church bus driver who drove members to and from all services, praise leader, and the pastor's adjutant. Kirk did not need a title to perform a task. If he saw the need, he was quick to resolve it quietly and without fanfare. Kirk served with selflessness, seeking no accolades or recognition.
Kirk was always a faithful servant to the Lord. Whatever and wherever his hands were to do, he did it to the glory of God. In 1998, Kirk was elevated to an ordained minister, anointed and consecrated by the late Rev. Nathaniel Simmons at Saint Paul Sounds of Praise (formerly Fire Baptized Holiness) in
Newark, New Jersey. Kirk also was a part of the recording church choir, Natalie Wilson and SOP Chorale, where he traveled all over the church circuit, ministering in song. Kirk also served at Simmons Memorial (Pastor Ruby Simmons), Pilgram Church (Bishop Elvin Crone), HOWChurch (Pastor DJ Yarborough) and New Hope Baptist Church (Pastor Dwight Gill).
Kirk was in the healthcare industry and served in the linen supply company that worked in St. Michael's, Irvington, University, and St. James Hospitals. He then became a certified hazmat delivery driver of liquid oxygen to patients convalescing at home. This passion to serve continued at various home care providers: Glasrock, AtHome Medical, Lincare, Homecare Services, and finally Ocean Home Healthcare (now AdaptHealth) as Manager of Operations.
Kirk has touched so many lives, and his departure has touched even more. He leaves a great legacy of servanthood. Kirk was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Willie Lee White (Jones), sister, Denise White-Humes, his daughter, Anitra White-Hines (Tyrone), and his nephew, Tremayne Humes. He leaves to celebrate his life, his beloved wife, Leah, his daughters, Joycelyn (and Son-in-love, Brandon), and Jada, sister-in-love, Melissa Preston, his nieces, Tanya Paredes (Julio), Imaani Orr (Cadell), Camille Brown, Allise Paredes and Baby Gia, Trenya and Talijah Humes, nephews Kyree Bey, Rico and Brees Orr, dearest chosen family, Tommy and Lynda Wright & family, 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives, friends, colleagues, and associates.
