Obituary published on Legacy.com by McKnight Funeral Home Inc on Apr. 14, 2024.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kittie Lynn Thomas, age 64, from Danville, on April 11th, 2024. The news has left us utterly devastated and caught completely off guard.
Kittie was born on May 24th, 1959, to her loving parents James and Lillian Stevenson Dunn in Danville, KY. She was the cherished baby sister of Beverly Sleet (Ed) and Stephen Dunn (Tammy), and the proud big sister to Mack Dunn (Kim). Kittie graduated from Lincoln County High School before pursuing her passion for criminal justice and law enforcement at KSU and later Eastern Kentucky University. She successfully earned a bachelor's degree in law enforcement and went on to serve her country in the United States Coast Guard.
The greatest joy in Kittie's life was her son, Peter Thomas (Brittney). Peter also blessed her with three wonderful grandsons, Madden, Noah, and Paxton. Kittie embraced her role as a grandmother wholeheartedly, showering the boys with love and spoiling them whenever she could.
She was a beloved aunt to Jeremy Sleet (Tricia), Shanda Correll (Caity), Jarod Sleet, Makensi Gage (Dustin), Jordan Dunn, and Jake Dunn (Katie). Kittie valued family gatherings and had a deep love for her church community, where her absence will be immensely felt. She was known for her kindness, generosity, and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever needed.
As a breast cancer survivor, Kittie was passionate about raising awareness and supporting research efforts. She organized and attended numerous fundraising events to further the cause. Her impact on the community will be sorely missed.
Kittie was never one to miss a family gathering and was a unique friend who enjoyed travel, good food, and a good round of BINGO. Her absence will be undoubtedly observed by all who knew her. The warmth of her smile, the kindness in her heart, and the love she shared will be greatly missed.
Kittie is preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Nia Nicole. She is survived by her special friend Clyde Simpson, aunt Addie Jo Dunn Logan, best friends Marsha Selby & Marta Ramirez, her siblings, son, grandsons and many nieces and nephews.
