Kitty-Lee was born in
Missoula, Montana where she attended most of her schooling. Her family moved between Montana and Washington state. She met her husband Lloyd Weckerly at a roller rink while attending High School in Missoula. They were married October 25, 1953.
After their marriage in Missoula, "Kitty" as known by friends and family and Lloyd moved to North Dakota settling on the Weckerly ranch south of Hurdsfield. There they farmed, ranched and raised 10 children. In 1974 they purchased a home in Harvey and the remaining children at home began attending school in Harvey as the Hurdsfield school closed its high school and eventually the entire school. The family continued to operate between the ranch in Hurdsfield and the home in Harvey seeking opportunity for their children.
Kitty enjoyed the farm and ranch life, gardening and held a variety of jobs off the ranch as her children grew more independent. She worked at the St Aloisius Nursing Home and hospital as a Nurse's Aide, at Bergs Five and Dime and the Pasta Plant in Cando. Kitty volunteered as a Cancer Society Educator, traveling about Wells County with "Betsy Boob", a demonstration tool for self-exam technique for breast abnormalities, a cause she was passionate about.
Kitty enjoyed her home in Harvey where she could help with the grandkids. She enjoyed having the grandkids and their friend over after school, preparing supper for them and friends on Wednesdays before Awana Club. She also was available for storm days or any time the kids wanted or needed to stay with "Grandma Kitty". Her home, heart and table always had room for one more! Kitty enjoyed traveling with Lloyd on occasion to visit her grandkids in other states.
Kitty enjoyed crafting with her primary interest in crocheting, knitting and sewing. She held a large stock of supplies and books, ever ready for projects for herself, for the kids to use or when Lloyd would find a project for her to complete often baby afghans or cotton dish cloths they would give as gifts. Kitty was involved with the Harvey School and Top Hat Playhouse, Inc sewing and altering costumes for play and musical productions. One project she especially enjoyed was working on costumes for the Top Hat production of "The Sound of Music".
Kitty was a long-standing member of Cornerstone Church, serving in many roles in Mission work, children's ministry and quilting. In addition to serving locally, Kitty and Lloyd worked with a cousin in El Paso, Texas for over 25 years where they delivered collected clothing, bibles, hymnals and other items to the mission field throughout Mexico. Kitty especially enjoyed helping in the Mission field with children with school, cookie baking and music. Kitty enjoyed listening to music and playing the accordion in her younger years.
