Thamarappallil Chandy Koshy (Pr. Prof. T.C. Koshy) was born in Kallissery, Kerala, as the second of six children to the late Chandanappallil Chandy and Rachel Koshy, of the Manalethu, Thamarappallil Kudumbom.
At a young age, T. C. Koshy encountered Jesus Christ at an early morning meeting during the Kumbanad Convention. There, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was filled with the Holy Spirit, a moment that marked the beginning of a life entirely devoted to Christ and His work.
He was united in holy matrimony with Chinnamma Varghese of the Kappamammoottil family, Ranny, and together they were blessed with three sons.
He completed his pre-degree at S.B. College, Changanassery, and then moved to Nagpur, where he joined Nagpur Medical College as a laboratory technician. While working full-time, he continued his higher education and earned a Bachelor's and Master's degree in English. During his time in Nagpur, he played a pivotal role in establishing churches.
He returned to Kerala and joined St. Michael's College, Cherthala, as a Professor in the Department of English. He took a sabbatical and went to Nigeria, where he served four years as a government teacher at the Teachers' Training College in Yola. Even while in Nigeria, his passion for ministry continued, and he played a key role in planting churches there. He returned from Nigeria and completed his tenure at St. Michael's College, where he remained until his retirement.
During his professional career, he was ordained by officials of the India Pentecostal Church of God (IPC) as a minister of the gospel, following a clear calling from the Lord. With a continued desire to deepen his understanding of Scripture, he pursued further theological education. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's in Divinity, as well as a doctoral degree in Theology, with a focus on premarital counseling.
With a lifelong commitment to church planting, he helped establish IPC congregations in Alappuzha, Cherthala, Thiruvanvandoor, Koladathussery, and Puliyur. He later served as the center pastor of Pambadi and Vaikom districts. Over the course of more than five decades, he held various leadership roles within the IPC General and State Councils.
He devoted himself to theological education as the Dean of the Post-Graduate Department at Hebron Bible College, where he trained and mentored thousands for ministry. He also taught at several other Bible colleges and was a founding member of Kottayam Theological Seminary. He played a significant role in advancing Christian education through his involvement in the Sophia School project.
Collaborating with Bible translators, he contributed to the Contemporary Study Bible, ensuring God's Word was presented with clarity and understanding. He authored numerous influential books and served as Chief Editor of The Trumpet magazine. As the IPC Sunday School Director for nineteen years, he played a key role in developing a comprehensive curriculum for all age groups.
His influence extended well beyond theological education and overseeing churches. Guided by a lifelong desire to give back, he also served as the Vice Chairman and Chairman of Hospital Ministries India (HMI) for over 30 years, an organization that serves the poor, the needy, and the sick.
In the final years of his life, he resided in Chicago with his children. In the early morning hours of January 10, 2026, the Lord called His servant to his eternal home. We acknowledge and thank our Heavenly Father for His continual mercy, goodness, grace, and faithfulness from his first to his final breath.
