KRAIG MARK DELING, age 60, of Waseca, died on Friday, July 11, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on May 27, 1965, in Waseca, he was the son of John and Judith (Wieske) Deling. Kraig was baptized as an infant and confirmed in his faith in his youth at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca. He attended Waseca Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1983. Kraig continued his education at Hutchinson Vo-Tech where he studied agriculture. On September 10, 1988, Kraig was united in marriage to Kristi Nelson at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria, together making their home in Waseca where they raised their three boys.
Kraig loved farming! He worked for over 31 years at the University of Minnesota at the Experiment Station as a mechanic and farm hand, helping where ever he was needed. Kraig also helped various farmers in the area in the spring and fall. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca where he served as an elder for many years. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion. Kraig enjoyed tinkering and fixing things, although his family would refer to it as putzing. He enjoyed working on his yard, tending to his vegetable garden, traveling, camping with crackling fires, Gator cruising the countryside, and watching westerns. Kraig will be remembered for his “Stache” and light hearted sense of humor, that even animals couldn’t resist.
Kraig is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kristi; sons: Jason (Charlie) of Marshall, Justin (McKenzy) of Waseca, and Jacob (Kelsey) of Miltona; grandsons: Stetson and Layne; siblings: Lori (Randy) Loeffler of Waseca and Kevin (Diane) of Janesville and Kristopher (Tracie) of Elk Mound, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
