Kris Hackbirth, 63, beloved spouse, son, and father, was called to his eternal resting place on January 1, 2026. He was born on June 27, 1962, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to James and Marsha Hackbirth.
Kris was a proud graduate of Jenks High School, Class of 1980. Throughout his life, he was known for his fun-loving spirit, quick wit, charming personality, and crafty sense of humor that brought laughter to those around him. He had a deep love for skiing, sports, trivia, and history, and was a devoted fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Denver Broncos, and Notre Dame football. Kris also enjoyed watching horse racing and could often be found immersed in historical facts or a good trivia challenge.
Above all, Kris cherished his family. He found great joy in watching his children pursue the things they loved and was especially looking forward to witnessing his granddaughter, Eleanor, grow and chase her future dreams.
He is survived by his loving wife, Stacy Hackbirth; his children, Kristen Melancon and Jacob Hackbirth; his stepmother, Ida Hackbirth; and his cherished granddaughter, Eleanor Melancon. He is also survived by his siblings, Kim Hackbirth and Kay Perry; step-siblings, John Cochran and Peggi Vigil; along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Kris was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Marsha and Spike Cochran, and his father, James Hackbirth.
A Celebration of Life honoring Kris will be held on Friday, January 16, at 12:00 noon at Five Oaks Lodge in Jenks. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate a life filled with laughter, love, and meaningful moments.
