Schaudt Funeral Service and Cremation Care - Glenpool-BixbyBilly Short, Glen Short by those that loved and knew him well, 68, a beloved husband, father, son, and friend, was called to his eternal resting place on January 14, 2026. He was born on November 2, 1957, in El Dorado, Arkansas, to Billy and Shirley Moyer.
Glen lived a life grounded in faith, kindness, and quiet strength. A devoted Christian man, he was a dedicated student of the Bible and a preacher whose wisdom and patience touched many lives. Though soft-spoken, Billy possessed a gentle humor and a warm presence that made others feel at ease. He was a faithful friend, a loving husband, and a steady source of guidance and compassion for his family.
Glen found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. He had a deep love for old cars and horses, enjoyed painting, and took pride in construction work. These passions reflected his creative spirit, hardworking nature, and appreciation for craftsmanship.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Short; his mother, Shirley Moyer; his children, Caleb Short and wife Kelsey, and Sara Short; and his stepchildren, Davin Groom, Darin Groom and wife Miranda, Kyndel Waters and husband Drew, and Megan McGovern and husband Harry. He was a proud grandfather to Caleb Short, Halo Short, Azari Musa, Maliyah Musa, Conner Waters, Kaitlyn Waters, Keira Groom, Kadance Groom, Callie McGovern, and Capri McGovern. Billy is also survived by his siblings, Mike Short, Pam Short Smith, and Lisa Short Garcia, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Short.
One of Glen's favorite quotes spoke deeply to his faith, compassion, and understanding of life's
most difficult seasons:
"One of the hardest things to process is the slow change in the one you love-becoming a completely different person as everything changes. This journey is often called "the long goodbye." While often this quote refers to Alzheimer's disease, it very much reflects the loss with ALS. Patients can become bedridden, unable to move, eat, drink, or communicate with those they love.
There are those who may never fully understand this loss because ALS has not touched their lives. They may not know what it is like to love someone who has fought-or is fighting-this battle. Unfortunately, we often assume we will always remain well. May this serve as a reminder to cherish each day, for tomorrow is never promised."
Glen will be remembered for his loving heart, quiet humor, steadfast faith, and the wisdom he so generously shared. His life was a true reflection of patience, kindness, and devotion, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bristow Seventh-day Adventist Church, located at 401 E. 6th Avenue, Bristow, Oklahoma. Flowers may be sent directly to the church.
