Waddington: Kristian N. Daley, age 33, passed away unexpectedly at his family's home on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Phillips Memorial Home in Waddington. Friends and family may be received on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home, 28 Clinton St. Waddington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church in Waddington with the Rev. Garry Giroux officiating, with burial to follow in St Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Waddington.
Born on May 25, 1991, to Matthew and Elizabeth (Hollembaek) Daley in Potsdam, NY. Kristian graduated from Canton Central School in 2009 and received a bachelor's degree from SUNY Canton in Criminal Investigations in 2013.
As a high school student, Kristian lettered in Varsity Soccer, Hockey and Golf. He furthered his athletic career at the collegiate level by playing hockey and lacrosse for the Suny Canton Kangaroos.
He is survived by his parents Matt and Beth of Waddington and his sister Tori Daley of Raleigh, North Carolina. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, whose company he cherished.
Kristian was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Gordon "Bud" and Mary "Bev" Daley of Waddington; and maternal grandparents, Bob and Isabelle Hollembaek of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was also predeceased by his Uncle Brett Hollembaek of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
An avid golfer, Kristian was a member of Partridge Run Golf Course where he enjoyed friendly competition with close friends and family. Always tinkering with his swing. He was often seen working with club professional Kevin McGinn, fine tuning the basics and seeking advice on lowering his score. Kristian also continued his hockey career by participating with his childhood brothers on various adult hockey teams throughout the area.
At the time of his passing, he was employed as a Project Manager for Schneider Electric Co., based in Nashville, Tennessee.
Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Kristian, fully understood that family, friends, and athletics carried the upmost importance in his life. He was a caring and compassionate brother and son, as well as a fiercely loyal friend. He was passionate about the Detroit Red Wings and prided himself as a pure student of the game, reciting nearly every NHL player's statistic at the "flick of a switch". Sunday afternoons were often spent in front of the television watching PGA golf, rooting on the likes of Scotty, Rory, and Jordan Speith.
A very bright guy with a small-town mindset, Kristian reveled in the company of close friends while always displaying the upmost respect for his elders. In short, he possessed all the human traits essential for success that would make any parent proud.
We will never forget his broad smile and bright blue eyes.
In lieu of flowers the family would like to acknowledge any memorial contributions with the Canton Pee Wee Association; P.O. Box 523, Canton, New York 13617.
