Kristopher Glenn "Kris" Loflin

Kristopher "Kris" Glenn Loflin, 36, of Van Buren, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Kris was born on August 23, 1988, in Sacramento, California, to David and Mary Ann Loflin. At the young age of 18, Kris made the courageous decision to serve his country, proudly enlisting in the U.S. Army. During his service, he earned the rank of Corporal and retired with honor. After his military career, Kris pursued his passion for sound and music, earning a degree in Audio Engineering. He found joy in setting up sound stages and creating sound recordings, immersing himself in the world of music and technology.
Kris had a vibrant and adventurous spirit. He loved playing Magic: The Gathering, video games, and Dungeons & Dragons, where he was a dedicated Dungeon Master. He also enjoyed painting, BMX biking, and paintball. Above all, Kris cherished time with his family, especially his wife, Carmen, and his beloved children, Logan and Hilzarie. He was deeply loved by his mother, Mary Ann Loflin.
Known for his humor, competitive streak, and love for storytelling, Kris was a devoted father, a loving husband, and a loyal friend. He was also a ruthless MTG player and brought passion and creativity to everything he did. Kris touched the lives of so many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Kris is survived by his wife, Carmen Velazque Loflin; his children, Logan Loflin and Hilzarie Velazquez; his mother, Mary Ann Loflin; his father, David Loflin; his stepfather, Donald McKeown II; and his grandmother, Sharon Derr. He is also survived by a large extended family and countless friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sandra Holton, Lowell "Charlie" Holton, and Gary Derr; as well as his great-grandparents, Ruth and Donald Holton, Mary MacDonald, and Vincent Del Ross.A burial service to honor Kris will take place on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, located at 522 Garland Street, Fort Smith, Arkansas.
