Kurt Bryan Ahlander, 66, of Flint Township, passed away on January 24, 2026. A compassionate listener, a patient teacher, and a constant shelter to any who needed one when things were hard.
Born April 4, 1959, in Modesto, California, Kurt grew up with a deep curiosity for the world and the people in it. After graduating from Carman High School in 1977, he earned his degree from Michigan State University and went on to spend 30 years serving the community of Genesee County as a Case Work Supervisor. His work was not glamorous. It was about helping people navigate difficult moments with pride and dignity.
Kurt met Marsha Luckett in 1984, and married in 1986, beginning a love story that would span four decades. He loved Michigan State sports, his extended family of nieces and nephews, and found simple joy in golf, grilling, and spoiling his grandchildren, often with a cookie in one hand and dad joke in the other. Kurt was steady, thoughtful, and quick-witted. All who knew him knew laughter and felt love.
Kurt’s greatest legacy lives in the family he loved and the friends he cherished: He is survived by his wife, Marsha, their children Anthony Luckett, Terra Luckett, and Terry Ahlander and his wife Sara, his older sister Laurie and her husband Mark Robert, and his loving in-laws Michael and Carla Housley, Linda and Dexter Roach, Alice Odneal, and Terry and Marcia Luckett. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Queanna, Alexus, Allana, Angel, Quville, Carlito, Quartni, Ava, Skylar, Khloe, and Amerlis. Continuing in his memory are his beloved friends James Kline, Steve Terrell, and Curt Oldham.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle and Doris Ahlander, his in-laws Arthur and Alice Louise Luckett, and his dear friend Franklin Mathis.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Kurt’s life on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions in Kurt's name to Unity Christian Church, 3516 W. Hill Rd., Flint 48507.
