Kurt Howell of Reese, age 48, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, after a lingering battle with ALS. Kurt was born August 14, 1976, in Saginaw, the son of Larry and Cindy (Poppy) Howell. After graduating from Reese High School, Kurt took classes at Delta College for a few years. He worked in various jobs, mainly in the tool & die industry. Kurt was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Richville, and enjoyed fishing and hunting. At age 14, he was able to obtain an elk permit and was the youngest person in the state to get an elk at that time.

Kurt is survived by his mother, Cindy Howell; brother, Benjamin (Brittany) Howell; three nieces, Lily Southgate, Isla Howell, and Mae Howell; uncle, Tim (Kathy) Howell; aunts, Nan (Dave) Kober and Roxanne (Leo) Ainsworth; and grandmother, Audrey Poppy. Kurt was preceded in death by his father, Larry Howell; aunt, Carol (Mike) Streeter; and grandparents, Curtis and Margaret (Murphy) Howell, and Richard Poppy.

At Kurt's request, cremation will take place. Kurt's family would like to extend their gratitude to Americans Home Health & Hospice Care of Saginaw, and to the Tuscola County Medical Care Community of Caro for the excellent care they provided. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Richville, Michigan.
