Kurt Leonard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Legacy Funeral Home-Heritage Chapel at Angelus on Mar. 18, 2024.
Kurt Colton Leonard, age 59, passed away on March 2rd at the Alaska Regional Hospital. He was born on November 17, 1964, to Frances Marie Leonard and Jack T. Leonard in Anchorage, Alaska. Living most of his life in Alaska, he enjoyed being outdoors and being a craftsman. He graduated from Robert Service High School before he started his storied career.
Feeling a need to serve his country, Kurt served in the army, similar to his father before him, who served in the navy during World War II. After 4 years of service, he was honorably discharged from military service and began work at the Anchorage Pioneer Home, working various jobs there until he became an electrician. He switched to working at the Hernandez Sport Fish Hatchery, where he regulated the living state of various fish before they were released out in the wild. He worked 32 years in total before he retired, where he received a plaque to commend his dedication from the Alaskan state.
Using the great Alaskan Outdoors to the fullest, his hobbies were fishing and dip-netting. He especially wanted to share his interests with his family members, going out annually to partake whenever it was allowed by staying at his mother and grandmother's cabin. During his travels to Thailand, he met his future wife, Kansuda, with whom they were happily married for 23 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Thorpe Leonard.
He is survived by his wife, Kansuda; his older sons, Matthew and Kyle; his younger sons, Jack and James; his mother, Frances; his older brothers, Eric and Neil.
A memorial service will be held in his honor at the Legacy Heritage Chapel at Angelus on March 28 1-4pm.
