Kurt Daniel Murphy, 60, of Marshfield, WI, passed away on November 22, 2024. He was born on October 18, 1964, in Park Falls, WI, to Donald and Carol (Setterman) Murphy. Kurt attended elementary school in Park Falls before the family relocated to Spencer in 1973, where he attended Spencer Schools and developed a lifelong connection to the area.
On September 22, 1984, Kurt married Denise Reddy (later divorced), and together built a family with three daughters: Jessica, Jami, and Janalee. Amongst the chaos of sporting and social events, Kurt cherished the time he spent with his family.
Kurt spent most of his career working in construction, most notably at Advance Concrete. Throughout the years of concrete, he not only built physical foundations but also strong foundations of friendship and life-long memories. In his younger years, he was dedicated to the family farm and enjoyed raising race horses and attending horse races with his family. 'Murf' had a strong desire for friendship and valued his time shooting pool, hunting, and playing golf. In later years, Kurt found joy in watching NASCAR, having attending a race during his time living in Texas. From October through March, you could find Kurt layered in long johns, cozied on his couch with a book, a good movie and his mug. When you did find Kurt out-and-about, you'd find him "Takin' Care of Business" with Karaoke and dance. After his move back from Texas, he took advantage of the opportunity to attend his grandchildren's sporting events. His love for family was evident in everything he did.
Kurt is survived by his daughters: Jessica (Gregory) Nowaczyk of Sherry, Jami (Brian) Brost of Auburndale, and Janalee (Jared) Becker of Sherry. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Trevor, Nash, Tylan, Jorja-Ann, Jalynn, Truxton "Truckie," Treyton, Annistyn, Addaline "B," and Josie Mae. Additionally, Kurt (aka Scrub) leaves behind his siblings: Pat (Sue) Murphy of Spencer, Dave (Jan) Murphy of Verona, Brenda (Gary) Seehafer of Nebraska, Bridget (Paul) Christopherson of Spencer, and Barb Andres of Spencer, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who adored him.
Kurt was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Carol, his brothers, Bobby, Don Jr., and Steve, and his nephew Dayton.
Kurt's laughter and love was contagious. He always had a comical, if not inappropriate, insight to life. Hold tight to the memories and cherish the moments you had with Kurt. Although he will be deeply missed by all who knew him, he will never be forgotten.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield, WI. A funeral ceremony will be held at Rembs Funeral Home In Marshfield on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM, officiated by Reverend Teri Hanson, with an additional visitation from 10:00 AM until time of service.
We would like to extend a special thanks for the love and support of our mom, Denise, through this sad time. She has burdened herself with our grief, carrying the weight that our shoulders are too weak to hold. It is never easy to accept the pain and suffering of a child and she has remained strong and resilient as we navigate this difficult journey of grief.
