Kurt Schmeiser Obituary

Kurt W. Schmeiser entered into God's loving arms on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the age of 62 years. Kurt was born on May 30, 1963 in Milwaukee, WI to Virginia "Ginny" Bashaw and the late Kermit Schmeiser.

Kurt completed grades 1-8 in the Milwaukee area and graduated high school from Martin Luther High School in Greendale, WI in 1981. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he attained the rank of Gunnery Sergeant, serving in Japan, Okinawa, and with the presidential helicopter squadron, HMX-1. He was also a successful recruiter in the Kenosha and Racine areas. After the military, he held various careers, including in TSA, the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, and as a medical courier for Quest Diagnostics. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his children, ATVing in Northern Wisconsin, and doing yardwork.

He is remembered by many as someone who was generous with his time and willing to lend a helping hand to any who needed it.

He is the proud father of Philip, Joel, Elizabeth "Betsy," and Sarah Schmeiser, who will miss him dearly.

He is the beloved brother of Leigh Schmeiser and Nadine (Dan) Titze and cherished uncle to Mike (Jeanne) Emmrich and their children, Brianna (Jared) Nikodem, Abigail (Elliot) Lambrecht, and Tyler Emmrich. He is further survived by the mother of his children, Lauri Reid Trapp. He is preceded in death by his father and infant sister Maxine.

A visitation will be held at Grace Lutheran Church (3381 E. Puetz Rd. Oak Creek, WI 53154) on Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 Noon and an interment to follow at Oakwood Rest Cemetery. Please note, additional parking for the church is located at 3401 E. Puetz Rd. Oak Creek, WI 53154. Memorials in his name can be sent to Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation at FallenPatriots.org.
