Kurt Alan Squires, born on January 28, 1954, in Mansfield, Connecticut passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, at his home in Pittsboro, North Carolina surrounded by his family at the age of 71.

Kurt was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent 25 years as a Maintenance Supervisor with UNC Housing Support. His commitment to his work was matched only by his devotion to his family and his love for the simple pleasures in life.

A proud veteran, Kurt served honorably in the United States Army from January 28, 1972, until his honorable discharge on January 22, 1975. His service to his country was a testament to his character and dedication.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Norma Squires, and his brother, Preston Squires.

Kurt is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Betty (BJ) Jones, whom he married on September 1, 1979, in Pittsboro, NC. He leaves behind his son, Chris Squires, and his girlfriend, Marcy; his daughter, Jennifer Foushee, and her husband, Tucker; and his daughter, Becky McLeod, and her husband, Jeremy. He was a cherished grandfather to Georgia, Chase, Dustin, Cole, and Cindy, and an honorary grandfather to Aiden and Cole. He is also survived by his brother, Wes Squires.
