Kurt Stoor

Kurt David Stoor, 76, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, in Ocala, Florida.

Kurt was born on February 11, 1950, in Stambaugh, Michigan, and grew up in nearby Crystal Falls. There he was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Church and later graduated from Crystal Falls High School in 1968.

Kurt was also a proud graduate of Michigan Tech. During his time there he met and married Cheryl Barber in 1973. A few short years later they welcomed a son, Erik. He then went on to build a long and respected career in banking and mortgage lending.

Later in life, Kurt relocated to the San Francisco area, where he married Beth Mellen – his angel and adventure partner. Together they shared many years of companionship, travel, and new experiences. In 2022, they relocated to Ocala, Florida to be near family. Kurt was a man who appreciated the simpler things in life: any day on the golf course, time spent with friends and family, travel and good music. He found joy not in extravagance, but in meaningful moments and shared laughter. In his earlier days, he was known for spreading joy with his voice and an old 12-string guitar. A lifelong "Yooper" and Green Bay Packers fan, he was always proud of his Upper Peninsula roots.

As his son married and began a family, he enjoyed the new role of grandfather. Kurt always made time to plan family vacations, go camping with his son and grandson, and visit the grandkids. As a father and husband, he was unconditionally supportive and loving.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Beth; his son Erik and wife Heidi; and his cherished grandchildren, Noah, Rachel, and Gabi. He is also survived by his sister Cheryl (Klenner); his sister Chris (Epper) and her husband Bruce; his brother Dean and his wife Yvette; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.

Kurt will be remembered for his steady presence, his appreciation for life's simple pleasures, and the love he shared with those closest to him.
