Fred Stoor Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nash Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. - Crystal Falls on Sep. 18, 2023.
Fred Stoor, age 69, died unexpectedly at home on the morning of September 14, 2023, in the arms of Linda, his wife of 51 years.
Fred was born March 5, 1954, in Crystal Falls to the late Lud and Claudia (Deloria) Stoor. He graduated from Forest Park High School in 1972 and was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corp Crystalaires. In high school, he toured across Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan as a member of the band Mother Luv as a keyboardist and vocalist.
He received his Bachelor's of Science Degree from Northern Michigan University in 1976 and began his teaching career in Oconto, Wisconsin. After a few years of teaching, being a girls' basketball coach, assistant football coach and baseball umpire, he and his family moved back to Crystal Falls. He joined his father and brother at Lud Stoor Agency, where he became an insurance agent. His love and skill for teaching were used again on the national level, engaging and educating agents across the country with his knowledge and humor.
During his time here on earth, Fred had many passions: scuba diving, golf, snowmobiling/grooming, deer hunting (before he and Linda started naming them), bowling, Nascar (especially #3), the Packers, his yellow Labs, cruising in the Camaro, being at camp, being with family, and most of all music.
He was heavily involved in the Rotary Club, serving at the local level as well as District Governor in 1992, flipping many pancakes, hosting 18+ exchange students from all over the world, and sending multiple local students around the world, including two of his children, a niece, and a grandchild.
Fred is survived by his wife, Linda; his daughter, Gretchen (Dave) Kopf; his sons, Ric (Angie) and Mark (Frances); and his grandchildren, Dylan, Dawson, Hattie, Jack, Zac, Reuben, Lily, Levi, and AJ. He is also survived by his sisters, Sandy Clark and Sally Smith; mother-in-law, Nancy Stankewicz,, and brothers and sisters-in-law, Pat Jansky, Bobbie Lee Stoor, Lee (Deb) Stankewicz and Kelly (Kathy) Stankewicz, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jon and Roger, his father and mother-in-law Tony and Betty Stankewicz, and brothers-in-law Dick Clark and Frank Smith.
He will be greatly missed for his storytelling and just Fred being Fred by family, friends, and clients.
In accordance with Fred's wishes, no services will be held.

The love of friends and family carry you through your grief. My Prayers are with you. I Will always remember the Deloria picnics at Long Lake, and dancing to Mother Love in HS! Fred was a friendly and fun cousin!
