Obituary for
Kurt A. Wallat
Clinton-Kurt A. Wallat, 74, formerly of Lancaster, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Judith (Sesia) Wallat; their children, Scott Wallat; Lisa Wallat & companion Daniel Spedding; Melissa Dempsey & husband Daniel, all of Clinton; Matthew Wallat & companion Christine FitzGerald of
Estes Park, CO; and three grandchildren, Madeline, Porter, and Astrid. He leaves his brother, Kevin Wallat of Clinton; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was pre-deceased by his sister Eila Wallat.
Kurt was born in Clinton, son of the late Alwin & Helen (Nisula) Wallat. He graduated from Clinton High School, Class of 1966, and completed studies in the Automotive Repair program at MA Vocational Technical School. Kurt was then drafted to serve in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he obtained his Teaching Certificate in Automotive Mechanics from Fitchburg State College before continuing his lifelong career with the Army Reserves where he fulfilled both military and civilian roles. Stationed at Fort Devens, he ultimately retired as Chief Warrant Officer 4 after 27 years of service.
Throughout his lifetime and retirement, he cherished tinkering with anything mechanical, notably his collection of rebuilt and restored farm tractors, and working on his fifth-generation farmhouse in Clinton. He was happiest in the company of his wife, children, grandchildren, and family.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 30, 2023 from 5 until 7PM in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton. A funeral service and burial will be held privately in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Kurt A. Wallat to: Clear Path for Veterans New England, 84 Antietam St., Devens, MA 01434. Online condolences may be placed at www.philbincomeaufh.com
