Robert Ganusko Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home on Mar. 12, 2026.
Robert J. Ganusko, 90, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Janice (Clark) Ganusko; their children, Robert Ganusko, Jr. & partner Denise Swenson, and Linda Wheeler & husband Duncan Baum; grandchildren and their spouses, Brandi-Leigh Croteau & Jimmy, TJ Ganusko & Katie, Stephen Ganusko & Elena, Shane Wheeler & Lynette, Lauren Fillios & Bobby, and the late Erin Lee Wheeler; great-grandchildren, Grace, Cadence and Ella Ganusko, Alexis, Tessa, and Erin Rose Wheeler, and Nico Fillios; step-great-grandchildren, Jordan, Calvin, and the late Justin Fillios; and the extended Baum family. He leaves his siblings, Ronald Gregory, and Frances Burns; generations of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends. He is pre-deceased by his son-in-law Frederick R. "Buddy" Wheeler, and siblings, Chesla Carlson, Mitchell Ganusko, Helen (Freddie) Burile, Jane Houston, and Mary Young.

Son of the late Francis (Frank) & Adela (Soldinitis) Ganusko, Bob was born and raised on the family farm in Millis. He worked along side his parents and siblings from a young age tending to the crops and cattle and completed studies at Norfolk Agricultural High School, Class of 1954. Bob spent his professional career as a Union Carpenter with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local #535. He was a foreman for Ablondi & Boynton Corporation and current member of North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters Local #346. Bob was a most humble and self-taught craftsman, mastered in the trades of woodworking, cabinet making, plumbing, and electrical, as reflected in the family home, which he renovated from stem to stern. Upon retirement from the Union, he worked part time at Balance Rock Farm. A lifelong farmer, he spent a good portion of his free time cutting wood, haying the fields, and caring for his animals. He thoroughly enjoyed every occasion that had need to fire up his Poppin' John (Deere). Above all, he was a devoted family man, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

There will be a graveside service at North Cemetery, Berlin, at 11:30AM on Saturday, March 28, 2026 with a Celebration of Life gathering at 19 Carter, Berlin to follow. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Robert Ganusko to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
