Kyle Lynn Stock, 73, of Oskaloosa, Iowa, passed away on June 1, 2024, at home. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Baxter Congregational Church in Baxter. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Baxter Congregational Church. Burial will follow in the Restland Cemetery in Baxter.
Kyle was the eldest son of Eugene Myron and Zetta Rae (Butler) Stock and was born on December 22, 1950. He attended Marshalltown Community Schools in his younger years before his folks moved north of Killduff in 1963. He was a 1969 graduate of Lynnville-Sully School where he enjoyed playing football and basketball. In 1972, he was united in marriage to Cynthia March and to this union they had 3 sons. Ryan (1975), Jason (1978), and Eric (1980). He and Cindy later divorced.
In his early years after high school, he worked for Fred Schmidt Lumberyard. Then he was a hired hand for Tom and Wayne Sharp. He then worked for March Materials, his father-in-law. Not knowing exactly what peaked his interest in trucking he started driving for Lynnville Transport. In 1983 he bought his own truck and became an owner operator. In 2002, he brought his son Ryan into the business. Kyle also dabbled in the family farm north of Killduff.
He was an active member of the ATHS, and the American Truck Historical Society. Kyle enjoyed attending many truck shows over the years. His CB handle was "Cowboy" and that's what most of his trucking friends called him. When his great-granddaughter came along and learned to talk that is the only name, she has ever referred to him as. Kyle got a kick out of that. He also enjoyed motorcycles. Over the years he got to enjoy many trips with friends on the bikes. He always looked forward to those trips.
Kyle leaves behind his sons and their families; Ryan (Alisha) Stock and their kids Hailey (Kenny), Kenley, Braxton, Emmalynn, and Tyler; Jason Stock and daughter Georgie; Eric Stock and children Ashley, Nathaniel (Kenzi "Bob"), Chance, and Aidan; brothers Kelly Stock and his family of California and Kent Stock of Kellogg; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his by his grandparents, father in 1985, mother in 2020, and brother Kirk in 2021.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Glen and Carol DeZwarte for taking care of Kyle after his cancer treatments, and to his grandson Tyler for the many helpful things he did for Grandpa.

So sorry to hear about Kyles passing. He was a true friend to me and my family. Did a lot of trucking over the phone the last few years. We went to the stock show in Denver many years ago. Many truck shows since. Will always remember the many places we trucked and his handle bar mustache. No more DOT for Big Daddy Scale Skipper. Hammer Down Cowboy
