Mrs. L.G. Holloway Goolsby passed away peacefully at her residence of over 70 years on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at the age of 97.
Born on March 20, 1928, in Lincoln County, Georgia, she was the daughter of Joe M. and Lillian Burgess Holloway. She was a valued member of her community, known for her friendly demeanor and her deep commitment to her church and family.
Mrs. Goolsby worked at the Lincoln County School lunchroom and later retired from Wilkes Telephone Company, where she built lasting relationships with her colleagues and the community she served as a customer service representative.
Her devotion to her faith was evident from a young age. She was a member of Double Branches Baptist Church since childhood. Throughout her life, she generously offered her time to help with Vacation Bible School and served on the Hostess Committee. She loved working in her yard and mowing her lawn, and she was an avid Lincoln County Red Devil and Georgia Bulldogs football fan.
L.G. is survived by her son, Larry Goolsby and his wife, Brenda; her daughter, Diane G. Walton; and her sister, Jeanette Moragne and her husband, Fremon. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Dan Walton, Jonathan Goolsby, and LeAnn Walton O'Neill, as well as her great-grandchildren, Ethan Walton, Sophia Goolsby, and Savannah Goolsby. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Goolsby; son-in-law, Larry Walton; and her siblings: J.M. Holloway, Maudine Tankersley, Welcome Holloway, Joel Holloway, Easter Lily Higginbotham, Joanne Winn, and Henry Will Holloway.
L.G. Goolsby will be remembered for her kind spirit, strong work ethic, and unwavering commitment to her family and faith.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 2pm until 3pm in the Double Branches Baptist Church Fellowship Hall followed by the funeral service at 3 o’clock p.m.at Double Branches Baptist Church in Lincolnton, Georgia.
The family would like to thank Bristol Hospice Service for their kind and compassionate care of Mrs. Goolsby. In particular, special thanks are given to nurses Karla, Amy, Chloe, Hannah, and Lesha. Finally, thank you to Flint Matthews, nurse and special friend to Mrs. Goolsby.
