L. Jean (Mether) Springer

April 12, 1931 - January 3, 2026

L. Jean (Mether) Springer, age 94, passed away January 3, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.

Jean was born April 12, 1931, to the late Edwin and Vera (Barkhoff) Mether. She attended Woodbine High School where she met her husband, Jack. Jean was a stay-at-home mother to four children until 1969 when she began working in various positions. She retired in 1992 after 15 years as a secretary to the District Sales Manager at Griffin Pipe. She spent many years travelling in the United States, Europe, Mexico, and Canada.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Jack Edwin; son, Gary and daughter-in-law, Kathy (Bosworth) Springer, Jack Springer; and brother, Dale. She is survived by son, Earl (Debby) Springer of Houston, TX; daughter, Cheryl Karnes (Joe King) of Dallas, TX; daughter, Jean (William) Hamilton of Omaha, NE; daughter-in-law, Sue Whitney Springer of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and brother, Harley (Janet) Mether of Woodbine, Iowa. She also leaves seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Jean's wishes were to be cremated with no visitation or funeral. She will be buried at the Woodbine Cemetery in a private family gathering.
