Lachlan Dougal MacKinnon

Lachlan Dougal MacKinnon, 47, of Euclid, passed away Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, at Memorial Park in Euclid.
Born April 25, 1976, in Cleveland, he was a lifetime resident of Cuyahoga County, living in Collinwood for 24 years before moving to Euclid.
Lachlan was a beloved musician of high repute in the Cleveland area, having risen to prominence in the late '90s as the guitarist for The Chargers Street Gang and Collinwood Soul Group, though he was equally renowned for his wickedly quick wit, fearless sense of humor, and uninhibited performance presence as he was for his riffs, which are immortalized on the Chargers' many recordings. Later in life, his considerable gifts as a storyteller came to the fore, and he authored the wonderful memoir "Let Me Tell You A Story" to great regional acclaim, using vignettes from his own life to showcase a deep sensitivity, sympathy, and humanity to match his acerbic humor and shrewd understanding of human idiosyncrasies.
Though his smile and laugh were instantly distinctive to those who knew him, Lachlan was a victim of serious depression, as is mourned by hundreds of deeply stunned and bereaved members of his Cleveland music family.
Lachlan was the beloved husband of Megan Faith (nee Mullally) MacKinnon; loving father of Declan Sue Mullally MacKinnon; dear son of Warburton A. "Bill" (Kay) MacKinnon; cherished brother of Warburton A. MacKinnon, Belphoebe Morag MacKinnon (Ronald Banc), Morrighan Deidre MacKinnon, Feowyn Alana MacKinnon (Jeremiah Robertson), and Malcolm Turloch MacKinnon; adored uncle of Margaret Mary Conway, Ella Rose Conway, Abigail MacKinnon Conway, and Phoebe Grace Conway; brothers of "The Chargers Street Gang," Joseph (Briana Blaha) Holzheimer, Christopher (Heidi Gurlosky) Kulcsar, Christopher (Beth) Rood and Matthew (Jessica) Fish. He also leaves his second mom, Barbara (Edward Mishic) Buchanan Mullally; and was a beloved son, grandson, father, brother, uncle and nephew of the Clan MacKinnon and Clan Buchanan.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Laure Niedel MacKinnon; and sister-in-law, Michelle MacKinnon.
Family will receive friends from 12 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, with a memorial service at 2 p.m. A Celebration of Lachlan's life with continue from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at The Beachland Ballroom, 15711 Waterloo Road, Cleveland.
